Vaccines are late, when average Joe aged 35 will be getting it will be already June/July 2021, not so urgent anymore as we will have developed an herd immunity by then.

70% is actually a good result. For a portion of the trial it was 90% when giving a smaller initial dose.
Compared to the other two, this is far easier to store and distribute as well as being much cheaper.
This has the potential to save more lives than the other two.
Also, when more data is published it might be the case that the success is higher in certain age groups. This means that having multiple vaccines available to target different age groups.
This is a very good point.

Average Joe aged 35 doesn’t need a vaccine in reality.
that's the point. by June/July masks will be a thing of past, crowds will be allowed etc. even if we U35 people don't get vaccinated thanks to herd immunity. I stopped looking at vax news myself.

"When volunteers were given two "high" "doses the protection was 62%, but this rose to 90% when people were given a "low" dose followed by a high one. It's not clear why there is a difference."
At a logical guess , the higher dose triggers a more aggressive reaction in the immune system with it being essentially a foreign virus.

The lower would be less detected and therefore have a lower reaction.

At a guess like.

You: "The virus originated in markets which followed shocking health and safety and food standards, yet the authoritarian government chose not to shut them down."

This is embarrassing.
You’re quoting me saying they failed in spite of their authoritarian nature, not because of it...

No idea, and I can't see this government providing objective criteria.
Last time it was above 100 per 100,000 is tier 2 and tier 3 was if the health service is struggling. Liverpool and merseyside are below 250 per 100,000 at the moment and its dropping massively every week so you'd think it would be tier 2 at first.

I’m going to be careful until I’ve been vaccinated. NEA

There's been 'careful' and then there's just continously not enjoying things you should be able to enjoy in life, though.

Look, we've had it a lot easier than other generations, I get it, but it doesn't mean that once people who need it are vaccinated (in general, obviously) people should still be afraid to get back to normal.

'Normal' will be different anyway. It's ingrained now, and I can't see a return to anything like there was before in terms of the general attitude of people - social distancing will still be a thing just because people's minds are set like that now.

But if you're fit and healthy (generally speaking) and not in a vulnerable age group, then there's no point living in fear of this thing once the people who need the vaccine have it.

The point is to protect others. You're much more likely to catch a serious bout of STREP and die from that than you are COVID, but people don't live in fear of that.

If you lived in fear, you'd never leave the house. Which is what some people want.

Sure? They a lot of flak for not having transparent criteria last time mate, maybe they did cobble something together at the end though.

I wouldn't bank on it staying the same, but today's announcement might give some notion.
