Our 4 week mini lockdown ends today in Northern ireland. Yet our government now are refusing to allow things to open up again.

This is why I do not support lockdowns. They give a time period, but it's never long enough. They always say we need a bit longer and keep kicking it down the road. It's a basic fundamental right of a citizen to be allowed to go and earn a living and the government are stopping lots of people. It's easy for well paid politicians to make decisions but they are completely detached from the circumstances of low paid workers and the self employed.

It leaves a particularly bad taste in our case where politicians were paid for 3 years while refusing to do their job!!

I believe the Moderna vaccine team are about to release their data from their trials similar to how Pfizer did this week, should be in the next few days.

This will tell us a lot. Its similar in technology and nature to the Pfizer vaccine, so if they show parallel efficacy its very good news and would indicate the Pfizer data is accurate and hasn't been overestimated.

Interesting to see that the positive percentage for tests in this mass rollout in Liverpool is 0.5%. Thats very low, I remember a few weeks ago about 14% of tests in the city were coming back positive.

The spread of the virus seems extremely unpredictable. It does look like Merseyside is well past the peak though which is good news, hopefully the area will be fine for the rest of winter.

Hospitals are still very busy though mate.

A lot depends on how people behave once these latest restrictions end and which tier Liverpool goes back into.

If people behave like idiots over the Christmas period, it`ll only lead to a load more restrictions mid to late January.

Places like Oldham and certain parts of Lancs just don`t seem to be able to get it under control, this is despite having had restrictions for quite a long time now.

Makes you wonder what`s going on with their populations.

Hospitals will have pressure now as it tends to take a few weeks for the changes to impact them but it should ease off. The main guy from the Royal was in the echo the other day saying its quietening a bit so hopefully that will continue.

That’s still 500 in every 100,000 and is a high number tbh....
