Given there is a delay between infection and hospitalisation and infections are still increasing in most states, admissions will be higher for the next week or two at least as well. A horrific situation.

Meanwhile Pence is patting his team on the back whilst on holiday in Florida

Meantime, the Strategic National Stockpile, the nation’s emergency reserve, has only 115 million N95 masks, far short of the 300 million the administration had hoped to amass by winter, Rear Adm. John Polowczyk, who retired on Monday as the national supply chain commander, said in a recent interview, though he added that the government is continuing to expand its supplies of protective gear.

I saw the graph of infections in the US the other day on here. All over the shop they are almost a straight line. Up.

I mean we give some clog to our Govt on here, but at least this second round has flattened pretty much every where. Merica seems out of control.

The last graph I saw showed uncontrolled (and growing) spread in every state of the USA apart from Vermont. Very sad.

Figures today make for very grim reading

Hospital figures - 456 deaths were announced today, up 123 on yesterday and up 76 on last Wednesday. 361 deaths were in English hospitals, up 61 on yesterday and up 59 on last week with 352 occurring in the past 10 days. The 7 day rolling average rises to 304.29

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 595 deaths were announced today, up 63 on yesterday and up 103 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 374.71

For the 60 day cut off, 621 deaths were announced today, up 69 on yesterday and up 111 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 390.57

50k who have died with COVID, not all of COVID.

Very misleading figures.
Anti Vacs, attention...

Would have been 50,000 some time ago under the old measure, mass debate over the dead people all you like it's horrendous milestone. Facture another shutdown of the NHS just role out a vaccine program many more associated deaths.
Not quite.

They said, early days, that 20000 deaths would be a sign of a good outcome.

It's an appalling outcome 50,000 people dead.

Its nuts. I havnt seen a state by state one, more a regional one, but matters not really.

I mean the only way to stem it, is stay away from folk, basic hygiene, and masks. But you have no leadership, at all. Even before the election. Ours has been patchy in stuff they have done, but the message has fundamentally stayed the same.

During the last week there's been a 12.9% drop in positive tests in the Wirral, excellent news.

It seems this 2nd wave, whilst a pita, has flattened pretty much everywhere, and this cocking germ is behaving exactly as JVT et al said it would. Pretty much nailed the timing as well.

Any 3 rd wave would be smaller again iirc, and thats all without a vax.
