Make the vaccine mandatory for all 65+ year olds. There can't be any element of choice, anyone who doesn't want it should be arrested and kept in a cell until they are vaccinated.

My guess would be that apart from the very rare self serving nutters like Corbyn’s brother, all 65+ year olds would have the vaccine. Remember these are the same people who went through all the vaccinations as a kid and get vaccinated every year for flu...The problem will be with the looney tunes 30-40 year olds like the ones in yesterday’s video in Liverpool.....

30 - 40 year olds won't be eligible for the vaccine under the government's initial roll out I don't think? I think under 50s are last on the priority list.

Edit: I think the document is JCVI: updated interim advice on priority groups for COVID-19 vaccination.

To an extent it is but if only 50% of pensioners want to take the vaccine we are going to be in the same position each winter?

There are a huge number of people out there who don't want to take a vaccine.
If the over 65s that don't take the vaccine start dying then I doubt they'll be a problem the following winter.

There's no way any vaccine will become mandatory. Everyone should have a choice over what goes in to their own body.

Agree that they won't make it mandatory but there is a chance that some countries might only let people in who are vaccinated or with a negative test (same as now).

Can't force the vaccine on people.

But if you don't believe in the science then don't call an ambulance if you get sick when you could have been vaccinated.

If someone doesn't want the vaccine then fine, it's a free country. It shouldn't result in lockdowns if people refuse because it would be someone's own personal choice and they would have to accept the consequences.

If it gets us all back to normal quicker, I'd take a vaccine tomorrow. But I certainly don't agree with compulsory measures.
Like many I have concerns about the speed of the testing compared to other vaccines. I can understand the views of @Bungle, but if most people waited to see if there were any side effects I doubt we would get to the level whereby we had herd immunity.

Personally, although I'm not actually an OAP yet, I am 60, considerably overweight and suffering from mild asthma. I reckon I'm at a higher risk of being very ill if I catch the disease and it does concern me. But I think it's of greater importance to get the economy working again and get the country working as close to normal as possible in the post covid world.

So I'm with you mate, I'll take the vaccine as soon as it is available to me, take my chances with the risks and hope I'm one of the 90% that doesn't catch covid. The other people at risk who refuse to take it will just have to take their chances, because we can't put the world on hold forever waiting for this thing to go away on it's own.
