I don't think they'll be in a position to open in December, I suspect the numbers will be worse then than now. 4 weeks isn't long enough, there'll still be way too much in the community, the incubation is generally 2-3 weeks, that leaves a week for the numbers to start dropping.

They'll start opening some places on December A.K.A. London.

Death rates will continue to increase throughout the new restrictions, however the hope is that the r0 rate will actually being to decline by week three or four.

This is all about providing time for track and trace - a reset almost with lower numbers - and preparing the NHS.

Track and trace has no chance with numbers so high, to lockdown the cases with close contacts and their contacts will shut down the country anyway given the shear amount of cases.

Absolutely melts my head how so many people are still catching this thing

No gigs
No sporting events
Restrictions on group gatherings
Majority of employees working from home in some capacity
No 'drinking' pubs
Social distancing measures employed in all retail and hospitality settings

Where are people catching it?!

Catching it in all the places still open plus inside their homes because social distancing isn’t a thing anymore.

It’s brilliant isn’t it. I’m in an area where almost no one has this, and have a pub that has every Covid advocated measure in place, but now have to close and once again pour away the beer...but the cities are rife with this so nevermind ....does anyone want a few barrels of really good beer.....

My local finally opened last week. They put so much work in being safe. A real shame but what can you do.

I know 1 person who is currently working from home.

Everybody else is still going to work.

Plus every single place that sells food is still open.

Do people not understand the numbers?

the daily figures are doubling roughly every 9 days. by CHRISTMAS DAY that means it goes from c25k daily cases to c1.5m daily cases.

if everyone in the country gets it once that’s 900k deaths.

how are people not understanding what this all means? why aren’t people grasping how serious this is. If it was March, fair enough. But it’s October.
It is serious, but you're not going to get people to lockdown now. The statistics clearly show that the age groups that suffer are very old. If it affected all age groups equally, then you would see completely different attitudes and behaviours from everyone.

So it's not the government's fault then - it's the stupidity of the general public?

Social distancing is still a thing I see everyday - I havent seen my dad or brother for months, all of my friends are sticking to it, everytime I'm out and about people seem to be thoughtful, wearing masks and all indoor settings have distancing measures in place that are being adhered to

Eat out to help out.

The Cummings fella doing what he pleased.

They were the end of lockdown for a vast majority of the country and those people arent going back.

It’s the govs fault for not having track & trace sorted, it’s their fault for all the vague and contradicting messages etc.

But it’s also the general pops fault for not following some very, can’t stress the word very enough, simple rules.
