Research beginning to emerge of how better we are getting at treating Covid, impacting the mortality rate in comparrison to earlier in the pandemic.

Excellent article and very encouraging. The fatality rate drop they point to is staggering - down to 7%-8%. I dont think I've ever seen a claim like that before, but it seems two independent studies on either side of the Atlantic have findings to that effect.

Important points made n the wearing of face masks and reducing viral load and the point that keeping hospitals free of becoming overwhelemed underpins the figures as much as any therapeutics....which is why the murdering ball bags in Downing Street have cost us dearly in the coming period.

Whilst this virus is killing people have you forgot about other things that are killing people?

Have you tried to get a GP appointment during this period? Try getting one with the anxiety of thinking you have cancer, etc. A phone consultation will not ease your worries.

It’s really difficult, though it’s far less difficult than it would be if every available hospital bed in the country was filled with Covid patients and they were still coming in. That is what is coming up.

Lockdown is a terrible idea; I’ve said that repeatedly on here - however the only way to avoid it was to have a massive and rapid test and trace system. They screwed that up once and there’s zero guarantee they are going to do it now.

“fear mongering” lol

I worry we are approaching the day when someone is going to say that sort of thing to someone who has lost family to this and end up getting seriously hurt for it.

I am not sure a jury would convict them either.
Given the projected numbers constantly being shared about , what else is it to call it?

Right now they predict 84 thousand to die this winter from covid alone. Which may be true , it may not be true , we don't know that. However taking into account how many die during the winter period anyway, that would surely put deaths then at some sort of ridiculous high into the hundreds of thousands over a 3 month period

Where alternatively doctors and nurses will be treating a lot more people and saving lives .

Perhaps more lives will be saved by the expertise of our health specialists in hospitals than the projected numbers which seem to be writing anyone's chances off if they end up in hospital currently.

Compared to 6 months ago when they didn't have that knowledge

Many people I know started using antidepressants, and most are under 35..it's killing us, albeit slowly and not dramatically

They bring up talks about a vaccine when they’re under pressure. No vaccine is forthcoming. Even if there was a vaccine, how successful is the one for the flu, 6% success rate?
Who are 'they'?

There seems to be a universal view across the epidemiologists that vaccines of some use will be in play post new year.

Then make use of the Nightingale Hospitals that were never used.

The government are completely incompetent but imposing ridiculous flawed lockdowns on people is not going to stop it.

There weren’t then, and probably isn’t now, the staff to properly get them working - and even if they did open them you’re only talking about an extra few thousand beds.

Imposing a lockdown is terrible and it’s going to cause great problems; don’t assume though that just getting on with it is better because it isn’t going to be.
