Nah, that's not it mate. You do not feel good just because you wake up. You do because there are things you are looking forward to. And some people now tell me that not being dead is in essence a fantastic thing, I should be grateful and don't ask for more.

Otherwise, I hate luxury, my phone is a cheap ass one, it goes 1,5/2 days without needing a charge, I live a simple, modest life. I'm with you on that front.
Have you really had people tell you that? Really?

Out if interest how many cases were there at the time of the lockdown? The UK would probably need to be completely closed until about February for something similar to be successful.

DED1F174-52C9-4DF3-8FBA-B43872A48486.webp these are the dates, and various stages of lockdown we’ve had. The real harsh lockdown started on 02/08 all of our non essential shops have been closed since then, all non essential business’ were closed down for the duration.
We had a curfew every night from 8pm -6pm and were only allowed to travel within a 5km radius from home, the above data is slightly wrong, the curfew dropped off a couple of weeks ago and the 5km became 25km.
If you worked outside of the 5km you were required to carry a permit detailing your working hours.
Even as we are opening up the 25km limit is enforced to the point that there are roadblocks to regional Victoria, and even places of natural beauty where people will naturally gather especially as the weather warms up. These restrictions are due to lift on the 8/11 provided our number stay low.
Our peak day was 725 cases

Just realised that this doesn’t mention schools it’s also a bit out of date but the crux is there, apart from 4 weeks in June the kids have been home schooling since March, with staggered returns from 12/10, all kids back in school on 26/10 bearing in mind our summer holidays are Dec/Jan

Not saying nymz is one of them but there are loads like that. they are ok with not dying, just existing, doing nothing, enjoying nothing, constantly living in fear. For them is every day they wake up to is a plus because they are alive. I have never felt like that, if I can't fill a day, then it's awful. If I can fill my next 5 years to the fullest, I am ok with being dead at 33, but if I will be living miserably, not enjoying anything I originally love, 80 years won't cut it, it can go to a bin.

It's all about patience and having faith this is just a blip, a character building period to get over. Loads of people around the world have had these over the course of history, do you think people in the late 20's/early 40's were living life to their fullest? It's just rearranging what you think is most important to you. A chance for new hobbies/interests perhaps?

If the government handled this better the first lockdown wouldn't have been so long and subsequent circuit breaks would just be that with longer periods of normality in-between. Again there is no easy out here, you can't divide the country up and say you carry on and the other lot stay locked down. Least in this time period everyone has social apps to communicate/flirt with the outside world. A year/18 months of your life isn't much, another 10 years down the line and I'd hope you would see that.

This is bad news then, essentially we are going to be in this cycle forever if a vaccine is not effective?
It’s only a study so a lot more research and peer review will be needed, but it does at a minimum appear to complicate the idea of a one-off vaccine.

Frequent immunisation, like with influenza, may be a more likely option if the data is in fact correct.

Yes after reading a bit more it doesn't look like concrete evidence. Don't people think T Cells have an impact too? Quite complicated really isn't it.

More than that, if validated as what's happening with the immunity period, it means the vaccine is the only way forward and that all the numb nuts who talk of herd immunity are completely wrong.

Better news on the vaccine front with AstraZenica's testing. It works just as well for older populations and actually produces less side effects in them.

They are, of course, private sector, and have their main concern for profits, and therefore I'd approach with some caution. But we do seem to be seeing some good feedback on the phase 3 trials.

https://news.sky.com/story/coronavi...tibodies-fall-rapidly-after-recovery-12115510

Hopes that the population will become immune to COVID-19 have been dashed by new research showing antibodies fall rapidly after recovering from the disease.

Now this is something I have said a few times before. Treating existing information as new constantly since this all began. All these measures protect you from literally any other virus, the preventative measures apply to any other virus. yet we have treated it like brand new information, the omg washing our hands is a good idea? !

The fall in antibodies suggest people will be regularly re-infected, just as they are with related coronaviruses that cause the common cold.

See. So the coronavirus covid-19 acts just like any other coronavirus in the family.

That's not new information, it's stating the bleeding obvious

Interesting to read that in Czech, healthcare staff are still going to work even if they return a positive test result. Their logic is that so long as the person is not exhibiting symptoms, then it's fine for them to work in isolation with patients who are also positive. I've not heard of such an approach being used anywhere else, and have no idea if it's medically sound or more driven by the fact that 13,000 medical staff are currently positive and there is a shortage.
