TBF I'd be happy for a senior military figure to be put in charge, provided they had the power to shoot ministers.
Indeed using a state mechanism such as the military to wage a war against a virus seems like too much commonsensical for profit really what's the point in that!
It seems in England you worry about us in Wales boiling the kettle and not being able to darn socks... I can see why Johnson got an 80 seat majority...

So if the government are talking about tier 4 now, what a complete shambles this all is really?

Applies rules to pubs, then A WEEK LATER change it to the tier 3 to shut some pubs without any time passed to see if the original one worked.

Then harp on about north west being bad, single Liverpool out in the entire country before 3! days later putting most of the rest of the northwest in this tier 3.

Now 2 weeks after the original tier 3, talking about a tier 4? Why didn't they just go to tier 4 to begin with if they aren't bothered about waiting to see if any other plan works?

In fact why not have total shut downs in these places from the get go as they are so bad? The tier system is actually a decent idea if they apply logic to it. To sound like @davek shut them all down and do so for a couple of weeks and force a change.

Otherwise all of this is a waste of time because all I keep hearing is how pubs are getting around the rules anyway including dinner tickets for a pound and a pot of curry on in the back.

Heard that at tier 15 pubs might actually close*

*Except Wetherspoons - that's tier 101

There is no Tier 1, 2 or 3. Its a con trick. It isn't doing anything because it's not designed to do anything. It's designed to allow the status quo for business activity, because these murderers are all about keeping the economy open until we approach 1000 people per day being killed by Covid19.

There will be no 'Tier 4' until hospitals are truly overwhelmed...and even then there'll be loopholes that their friends in business can use in order to remain trading.

Money over lives: that decision was made soon after the first lockdown ended. Expect NOTHING of substance from the goverment of England. Meanwhile the Scots and Welsh work to try and get on top of it in a meaningful way.

Or the government could actually start looking at where the virus is actually spreading, like hospitals and care homes and force them to actually do something to curb the virus.

They could be more proactive with testing and impose fines for those that don’t want to be tested despite exposure - a very revealing bit on this here - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54666568

Closing more stuff down won’t help. Actually address the issues rather than these low hanging populist policies.
