It’s 3 different daily figures, doesn’t mean they ALL happened in that 24 hours, hospitals in particular go back 10 days and further. If it was 170+ just on a Friday with zero backdating, then another 200+ the next day again with no backdating then it’d be even more of a massive worry. As it is, even with the figures going back up in triple digits overall, we still aren’t quite yet hitting it weekly much less daily
I know how they calculate them. But they still represent a figure that approximated to how this second wave is surging. So what if there's a lag of a week or 10 days in the reporting of them? The trend is sharply upwards and it indicates we need drastic action.

Having a vaccine ready is one thing, developing enough of it and distributing it to those who need it efficiently is an entire other thing. Let alone all the misinformation about the cause which will fuel the doubters fires.

That and the fact this is a virus and will likely mutate by next winter anyway.

I'm sure I seen they've started manufacturing huge volumes of the Oxford one already? I think an Indian company were involved. They might produce it quick, they make a lot of the flu doses every year. They'll probably initially give the vaccine to the people on the flu jab which might be quicker to organise? Knowing this government it probably won't be straight forward though..

Well if anything is to go off right now, flu jabs are running low? (not 100% on that can't remember where I read it).

The state of test and trace and all sorts to me suggests that vaccinating the population would be more difficult than thought.

Your last sentence nailed it lol.

Which reminds me, going back to a previous conversation from ages ago ...

They're starting to use wastewater sampling in earnest over here going forward. A lot of work's been done over the last few months to be able to do more than just spot massive changes, so they can take into account weather and storm conditions with a reasonable degree of accuracy so they're reasonably sure that local trends can be spotted accurately.

There's still some work to do on being able to compare measurements from different geographical locations, but, by back fitting waste sample results to swab test results I'd imagine that's getting closer.

Sometimes talking crap has some basis in science !

I’ve got lunch booked In on Wednesday at Hickories. I haven’t had a BBQ platter since March. If Boris tries to cancel it I’ll travel to London and personally eviscerate him.
