You're embarrassing really.

You make some glib political comment about some old guy who very well may die of the illness in the next few days, and rather than hold your hand up and say you regret your comments given what has developed, you decide to make light of them instead.

We all say things we regret and a sign of character is when you are able to hold your hands up and say you got it wrong. Unless you don't believe you got it wring in which case my original post is spot on.
The BBC article that people have commented on,firstly there is no mention of him being infected,so nobody has wished illness or death on him, secondly he states he a staunch tory, then that he doesnt trust the PM,then wants rlthe government,Richard Branson and Thunderbirds to rescue him,not caring about whether hes infected or not

Hahahahaha ok ;)

Just read this now.

I take it you are all aware that this couple have both tested positive for the virus and, being elderly, are also in the high risk category. But hey, they are just Tory scum so that doesn't matter then. With any luck it'll be 2 less people to vote Tory at the next general election.
As much as I admire your ability to see the bright side of even the worst aituation, I think you're probably veering over the line of decency there.

The new cases trend is totally driven by Hubei. This introduces a couple of problems - it tends to obscure what's happening elsewhere, and do you believe the numbers coming out of China? The fatalities they've been reporting are very high given the number of reported new cases, and they keep altering how they're keeping score on new cases (very possibly for political reasons).
The S Korea numbers should be useful over the next week, they seem to be being very transparent about the data and also doing a lot of testing to identify new cases at an early stage.

As I said in a previous post, had this been a scouse labour voter making the same plea nobody would have said anything. Had anybody done so you'd have no doubt been all over it like a rash. Bottom line is you all tried to get laughs out of your glib comments, and then the guy subsequently contracts the disease and literally could die in the next few days having since also contacted pneumonia. Any regrets on the comments?. None whatsoever.

I wonder what your views would have been if it were your parents on that cruise ship.

Where has anybody wished ill on him? Maybe it was the self entitled "Im a staunch tory I deserve to have Thunderbirds rescue me",maybe voting for a PM who would throw his own mother under a bus,but complaining when he ignores this "staunch tory",maybe voting for a party that happily let people die,go homeless, need food banks that cut vunerable peoples money to the bare bone doesnt elicit much sympathy when you whinge that your not a priority

Says the guy laughing about 2 less Tory voters. Yikes.

We're going to learn a lot from them and from the Italians. I *really* want an explanation for the incongruously high fatality rate in Hubei right now, though. The charitable explanation is that there's a lag time between diagnosis and death and that the fatality curve will start to level out soon, but the curves more or less matched until the Chinese started playing with the numbers. That introduces unpleasant explanations such as a politically motivated cover-up of the actual number of cases or local officials using the virus as cover for a purge (with the deaths of the dissident doctor and reporter tending to support the latter theory).

As a result, the next week should be very informative on a lot of fronts.

If I was on a cruise ship full of illness and highly infectious, I wouldn't expect to be flown back home to the UK were new cases are being managed seemingly quite well.
But that's just me like.

Honestly, not sure where you are getting half of this from... I can only assume you didn't like my saying that is was sure his demographic voted Bojo in for entertainment. If you love Bojo so much, fair play to you.

Or maybe Branson didn't come to your rescue either.

You have then tried to be high and mighty on an internet forum, assumed stuff about labour voters and what exactly did you do to bring this guy home other than that? You then go on to say well at least it's two tory voters less and somehow that is better than my comment?

Should I start making assumptions for you? I haven't once wished him bad, I simply said his tone had changed from his previous interview.

I honestly couldnt care less what an internet forum member thinks of me, I learnt that at a young age. You can win if you like, if it makes you feel like a big man... I surrender, spare me lord barnyfred almighty... that ok for you? :) hahaha muppet.

Are these metaphors or another kind of soup?

Metaphors for the virus going endemic. Which on the one hand I'm thankful for as the soup explanation is gross, but the result they're describing is concerning. We're not living in a game of Plague Inc. as the more alarmist seem to think, but we're reaching the point where it's getting hard to see this getting quashed and contained as SARS and MERS were.

So Tories don't deserve to be brought home because they voted for Boris.?

So you're happy to stay on there until you get infected, rather than be brought home and put in quarantine, and cared for here in the UK if you subseqquently tested positive.
