Life is a dangerous occupation.

Western philosophy and lifestyles have more or less proved that god is dead.

Boom shiva. What is gonna happen will be for the best.

The lorded David Attenborough has told us only the strongest survive.

Too much human breeding.

[Poor language removed] hits fan.

I’m lucky in that I’m self employed and can base at home.

Just don’t know how many working parents can manage this and the tinfoil hat on me whispers that for every country to do this means it’s worse than they have told us.

perhaps, though if you tell any politician - democrat, oligarch or tyrant - that question then they will all close schools; not doing that and loads of them dying (not that anything like that has happened with this) ends up in that politician losing their job and/or head

50% of those in France in ICU are under 60
i.e parents.

Its completely bollix

"Under 60" is nowhere near enough evidence to say that its bollix - with our unhealthy Western lifestyles people get more likely to have the chronic disorders that raise the risk of a serious version of this disease earlier on in their lives. Knowing the % of people in ICU who are under 60 and no preexisting diabetes, heart conditions or lung problems is what you would need to know to be able to say that.

Has amused me the last few days watching the Trump press conferences on this virus....he's been flanked by health experts in his administration...

They're supposed to be getting across the need and importance of Social distancing.... Yet its far more important to all of them that they can be seen on TV, and seen to be important..

Riiiight

So every child in the UK will have it

Ey?

I'm sure the schools will get closed but at this stage there's no evidence at all to suggest what you're saying will happen.

Half of the population - at least - is going to get infected with this. There's nothing we can do to stop it. We can only slow it down. We can't slow it down as much as initially predicted (that 10-12 week peak) because we didn't do enough testing, basically.

I know it's grim but we have to accept that it's the case. 40m people will get this. The vast, vast majority will be fine, young or old or middle aged.

It's making sure we protect the vulnerable as much as possible but there's only so much that's going to be able to be done in that regard. The best hope we have is of spreading out the infection over a period of say, 5-6 weeks rather than 1-2 (as happened with the first outbreak in Italy and then Madrid) so that people who do need the additional care can be cared for.

To be fair, I do wonder how many rank and file politicians have been briefed on the true magnitude of what ‘potentially’ is not just knocking on our door but sitting with its feet up in our favourite armchair.

In my own tiny part of the world I have heard Irish scientists echoing European Superbrains as to what we need to do in proper life and death stakes. UK boffins and govt are at odds with that guidance and our hands are all beetroot with the accordant washing.

They can’t both be right though, one group has nailed it and one has got it badly wrong.

I personally find it hard to place my trust.
