Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

My local is a Punch Pub, however his stock trade is real ale and he always has six on - 3 regulars beers and 3 changing guest beers from all over the country.

Due to the way things have gone, as from yesterday he`s had to let the guest beers go and just stick with his 3 regular beers.

If you knock that on to the whole country, that`s a lot of beer from little breweries / micros that is not getting drunk.

In a week he`s lost 2/3 of his trade, the Pubco`s simply have to help the tied publicans out, as if lots of pubs go under, the likes of Punch, which has only very recently come out of self inflicted hard times, could go under too.

The economy is screwed and people (not on here, btw) saying that people's health is more important are strangely ignorant of the fact how important the economy is for people's health.

They seem to be the same ones who are calling people 'irresponsible' for walking in a park and not sitting in doors pretending to self-isolate for likes on Twitter, but there you go.

So it would seem that the majority of people on GOT know more than the top medical experts in the UK government?

Even after all this time, NIST still refuses to release the computer models which they claim scientifically explain the collapse of the three (hit by 2 planes) World Trade Center sky scrapers.
The first, second, and third steel framed high rise in recorded history to fall due to fire, at, or close to the speed of gravity, exhibiting all the scientific characteristics of controlled demolition, and no characteristics of a fire induced collapse. They are believed simply because they are NIST, and government experts. Anything or anyone that deviates from the official narrative is a conspiracy theory, or theorist even if the narrative itself is contradicted by mountains of physical and circumstantial evidence, the biggest of which are videos of the collapses themselves.

I won't derail the thread with 911, but the similarities to it, and this crisis bear a striking, and worrying similarity.

Appeal to expert logical fallacy’s. Expert advice that defies, basic scientific principles or even common sense. Refusal to publish the data, and computer models, on which they claim their science is based, while defense (pandemic) systems have been dismantled (Trump) and stood down before the disaster occurs. Nations paralyzed by incomprehensible inaction that shall later be explained away as simple incompetence, when it is impossible to conceive even to laymen, how anyone could be this idiotic.

The medical experts weren't experts in epidemiology or infectious diseases. The government plan was very much £>lives of the peasants. It was blinding obvious, but in general the main media are too scared to point it out. Even the now recommendation of shutting down isn't a government request so businesses (correct me if I'm wrong) are a bit screwed in claiming losses.

Yeah, there’s fine line towards still living your life and being irresponsible, but people can still leave the house and carry on with a degree of normality.

Until a lockdown is confirmed what are people going to do.

Obviously if you or someone you have been in contact with have symptoms get yourself isolated. That goes without saying.

And here lies a big part of the problem, a lack of clear communication.

Even people on lockdown ( the elderly etc ) can still do things like take the dog for a walk, go and get a paper etc.

However it`ll do the likes of my waster inlaws a world of good, as they`ll be able to dry out for a couple of weeks.

Schools in NI are one by one ignoring UK advice to remain open in the face of Southern schools already being closed. It was a ludicrous political decision to expect schools a mile apart to listen to conflicting government guidance.

It's coming and its inevitable but it's going to be a very long break. Probably until September. I've spoken to teachers and they are getting ready.

I read earlier the school closure in the South is only to the end of the month. Cant imagine that's realistic. Bound to be for longer. This is not a short term solution.

I must say I'm worried about the burden on grandparents with school closures. Normalising home working first is gonna be required so more parents available.

I'm just glad this doesn't seem to affect kids too much. That's about the only positive we have with this.

and @Charro

It also boils down to testing and how do people even know if they're infected (I mean, the gov said today many people won't even show symptoms!)

Unless you're an athlete or a celebrity or in the 'vulnerable' bracket... How are you gonna know?

It's all about being proactive about what you can do. My gf is in pregnant so it looks like we are in some kind of semi lock down thing.

I will be working from home for 12 weeks as of tomorrow so will be stepping up my running and cooking.

There will be shrug of the shoulders and good finger wagging from Tory Corporal Jones about reading the finer detail of said insurance policies

TBF that was the one policy that was correct - schools should not close unless kids get sick, and even then they should only close for as long as it takes the issue in that school to be dealt with.
I’m lucky in that I’m self employed and can base at home.

Just don’t know how many working parents can manage this and the tinfoil hat on me whispers that for every country to do this means it’s worse than they have told us.
