Its purely down to money, they knew what would happen in the halls but allowed it due to the money involved. You don't need to be an expert to know that university halls aren't the ideal place to be during a pandemic.

Indeed, no surprise that groups of people from round the country brought together in close living conditions in pandemic start turning it into an endemic. No-one needs experts to tell us that one..

I’ve just returned from Crete and now have to quarantine for 14 days, even though Crete has a rate of Covid cases of about 5% of where I live, Conwy county, which is in lockdown measures. But people from Liverpool can still holiday in Gwynedd and Anglesey? Yet according to the Welsh government, I’m more of a danger to the local population, hence the quarantine
People should not be travelling out of their lockdown locality in England to go on holiday in Wales, as it's non essential... Surely Johnson COVID marshalls should be whispering to the authority's on their holidaying neighbors?

The thing is, the admissions are high but the turnaround has been far quicker (i.e. we do know a lot more about treating this illness than we did in March). Unfortunately for some people - especially the vulnerable in terms of breathing issues etc - that's not the case. But my friend's mum who was in with it last week was literally in a day or so, and they were happy she'd be okay.

Her dad had died from it two days before like so hardly a reprieve.
My brother had a very lucky escape recently. He's not long finished a course of chemotherapy for leukaemia. Thankfully he's in remission now and although his blood count is getting back up towards normal levels he's been told he should be self isolating because he is still considered high risk from covid.

I knew he'd been going out for the occasional drink with friends though. About a month ago he was out with a couple of friends and his friends dad. All 3 of them subsequently tested positive for covid and the father, who was 80 and had underlying heath conditions, died in hospital last week. My brother tested negative, but he was incredibly lucky because from the timing it's almost certain that at least one of the group was infected was covid positive at the time.

The request for Military aid has been asked across Merseyside. MACA has been requested for Liverpool for EHO support.

Not enough LA capacity for Environmental Health so the ask will be to support Covid enforcement framework across Merseyside.

(Just to preempt the 'omg the military are on our streets' people)

Do you mind if I ask if you're keeping to the quarantine rules.?

The reason I ask is that I read an article regarding an independent survey that had been carried out that reported less than 20% of people who were told to quarantine after being abroad actually did, and remarkably less than 15% of people who had been told to self isolate as a result of track and trace did, and this included those who had actually tested positive for covid.

If these figures are representative of what's happening, is there any surprise the infection rate is multiplying.

Well they say Merseyside locked down due to infection rates but, like you say, similar rated places haven't been. No one has challenged what the reason is for that though.
One of the journalists, think it was the Sky woman, did ask the question, but Boris just ignored that part and didn't go back to her. She said later that she tried to bring it up again but had been muted by that stage. lol

I think the answer to that question is that Boris wants to bring in the regulations at many more area's but knows he can't do so without the full co-operation of the local councils. So it would appear that at the moment Steve Rotherham is the only one co-operating with him
