Well if that is say 2 or 3 years, do you seriously think we can carry on like this? The country will be on its knees.

The vast majority of people are willing to be accept this over the winter and I can accept that too. But once the winter is over, that will have been a full year of this and we need to get back entirely to normal, regardless of whether a vaccine is available. We can't have a long term policy which is destroying the economy and education based entirely on a hopeful hypothetical scenario where a vaccine eventually arrives.

Why are you asking me what I think the country can handle? lol

I'm merely pointing out I think it's quite clear this is gonna be the way now till next year. If infection rates drop off a cliff then they will obviously ease restrictions.

We're also not destroying education since it's not being closed down.

Anything said about restrictions travelling to and from Merseyside to elsewhere in the UK? I take it it will be essential travel only (work, school etc.)

Nothing is illegal but they advise not to make non-essential trips out of the area.

The lockdown did work.

If it didn’t the death rate would’ve been even higher by a lot more.

We came out of it too early because london had it under control whilst the rest of the country was still struggling.

We never had it under control then a load of students descended upon the city and chaos ensues.

We’re getting had off up here.

Did lockdown not work? Or did coming out of lockdown too soon not work?

It did what it was expected to do. It slowed the spread of the virus. It was a short term measure aimed to help our health service and ensure they weren't left to be overwhelmed.

People seem to think a lockdown eradicates a virus which it definitely does not. That's why another lockdown won't work.

Apparently it's just guidance not to travel to another region, not law
