No one is quite sure, apparently we are in high, but Boris said 3. I’m glad this new system is much clearer.

"As a result of rising infection rates, Nottinghamshire, east and west Cheshire and a small area of High Peak will also move into the “high” alert level."

Apparently this is Tier 2 - Tier 3 is called "very high"

But how can they give a date for a vaccine when they don't know? Whatever date he could have given today would just be giving false hope and ultimately what he gets bashed over the head with when it's not met.

The idea we can get mass production of an effective vaccine within the next year or so is far more unlikely, than likely.

We cannot restrict and lockdown continually until there is a vaccine because it is not going to come in the next few months.

How long do they persist with waiting for a vaccine?

Restriction-lite, not a lockdown.

Betting offices, gyms and casinos shutting. That's it. Effectively.

Merseyside's hospitals have had their death warrants signed with the non-intervention today.

There should be a complete national lockdown. The only way of supressing this is by doing what was done in March-April. A decision has been made in goverment to sell us the illusion of a big intervention here but the reality is they restricted not much and they're sacrificing us to the virus.

But what we did in March/April didnt work.

If it did, we wouldnt be where we now are.

No, it worked. It worked well. The period afterward was when the suppression of the virus were squandered when these careless scumbags failed to get a promised 'world beating' track and trace system in place and simply allowed the 'new normal' to lapse into the old normal.

Come on will you, you KNOW that.

Think bozo has "advised" that folk in infected areas avoid travelling to those which aren't but it's not illegal
However the Welsh Assembly are unhappy with this advice and are looking at trying to ban people from high infected areas.
I was due to go to Anglesey on Friday for a short break but can see myself re arranging it or asking for a refund.

I don’t think you’d be welcome there anyway mate.

I think we've discovered that the length of time to persist is directly proportional to that of when said vaccine is available.

Well if that is say 2 or 3 years, do you seriously think we can carry on like this? The country will be on its knees.

The vast majority of people are willing to be accept this over the winter and I can accept that too. But once the winter is over, that will have been a full year of this and we need to get back pretty much to normal, regardless of whether a vaccine is available. We can't have a long term policy which is destroying the economy and education based entirely on a hopeful hypothetical scenario where a vaccine eventually arrives.
