"Infection rates have got nothing to do with pubs and restaurants, Dave. WTF are you going on about them for? They're safe as houses. People sitting at tables and being disciplined and that. Find another target will you, you broken record. Anyway, it's households that are to blame."

What"s missing for the other c50pc? Work and education?

All avoidable too, they could have just been opened up with rational health and safety regulations (like some establishments employed), not a massively advertised bums-on-seats publicly funded Groupon extravaganza.

That’s definitely a load of bollocks. Like in the privacy of your own home with your mates it would be safer than a supermarket lol

Yes and no. Lots of lessons learned from wave 1 (some debate it seems if this is still wave 1 or not) and better preparation for a spike, but it doesn't help prepare you for Government diktat and on the hoof decision making at national level applied to local areas.

Seems they dropped their pants a bit yesterday and have introduced a whole host of measures pretty much immediately. The bizarre thing is, they were saying back in September that if things progressed as they expected it to that they'd run out of bed space by mid-October, and their rationale for introducing the measures so quickly was that things were progressing so rapidly that they would have to introduce them or they'd run out of bed space by mid-October. All a bit of a pig's ear it seems.

How in gods name is the North going up so fast yet the South infections seem to rise in much lower speed..

London is likely low because the number of infections in the capital was massive in the first outbreak. If new transmissions were as high as 100,000 per day with most of this in London it stands to reason that there is a certain level of immunity in the population slowing spread this time. I certainly don’t think it’s because people in London aren’t going out to pubs and restaurants.

Barnet hospital is the ‘dirty’ hospital in Hertfordshire which is being used to send patients with Covid, and it’s currently half empty with extra equipment going unused. Thankfully. Hertfordshire was one of the epicentres of the virus at the start of the outbreak.
