You do what's right for your missus sir, from reading your posts from start of this crap fest to todays ridiculousness, common-sense seems to be what we should be striving for.

Unfortunately I've found certain posters on this excellent site, that entertains everybodys versiility, they quite enjoy and embrace the doom ladden negative points of angry unjustified tangerine faces...

And ill probably stick you £10 right now they've never had one good moment of life or fun in their puritan ways... We used to call em Daily Mail readers as their angry, upset, frustrated ways shine through... but yet they still wallow in their own self-pity...

Always enjoy your posts Roydo, an enjoyable common sense take in a world of idiots x

That is it. Front and centre, to me, thats it. Its simple, and was spelled out to me when she was allowed home; I dont get it, she wont get it.

Its the same with me being "advised" (read told) by NHS folk to not do any serious gardening nor DIY etc (lol best excuse ever), cos if I bust an ankle or chop a hand off, she is back in care.

If others took a bit of care, well, maybe things will pan out.

It's something I can't really comprehend for those who are ignoring/whining about basic interventions while bemoaning 'facism' as the country applying measures to limit spread..

If more would comply with the most very basic activities - hand washing, mask, distancing - then largely the consequences of non adherence aren't as widely and commonly used.

And, as I've mentioned in here before, it isn't a camp of 'lets shut everything down' or 'let's just let a few die - it's only the old and sick' there are a range of measures available to prevent both mass spread and complete lockdown - but if people continue to ignore the most basic of interventions it increases the likelihood of both.

This reminds me of the ignorant that say just keep the at risk at home and they won't get it.
Someone has to care for those folks (including those in care homes).

If you're running around without a mask, you may not give it to a high risk person who stays home, but you could infect the person that cares for them!

This tends to fall apart when you ask people about the practicalities of it.

I am getting so confused, and my life is incredibly simple, so heavens knows how others feel.

For weeks, we were told pubs and restaurants were not a significant source of infections. Now, they are. Maybe its a localised issue I guess.

Then 3000 folk, (?) can go to the Royal Albert Hall, and similar at the O2. But lower league teams cant have 300 in the open air watching them, but can watch from the clubhouse/bar.

Like, the basic messages, hands, face, space, and the protect the NHS stuff early days, were simple, effective, and adhered to. It wasnt difficult, lets face it. But now, for the wider population, not me, it must be bewildering, and undermines the "simple" effective advice.
That was always for the birds.

How on earth could anyone not realise that sitting indoors for hours on end with others wouldn't result in transmission of infection?

The government and their select experts said they were no significant source of infection in order to keep businesses running and taking cash in; the punters knew what the score was and just used the excuse they were being offered that it wasn't a risk so they could get out for a drink.

Starting to hit closer to home, just found out my 4 year old niece and her entire class have to isolate because their teacher’s assistant has tested positive which is a nightmare for my sister (who teaches in the same school and is pregnant) and her husband who now have to make alternate arrangements to look after her because my mum and my brother in law’s mum will be unable to

I've just read that but question whether some of those claims would bear much scrutiny quite honestly. I'm not a fan of scientists lecturing us on public policy having seen how some of them have advised us. We've seen their models, recommendations, policies and restrictions ... and you know where I stand on them. It reads to me like scientists trying to pass the buck for their own failings for this crisis onto someone else.

Trump is an easy target and a legitimate target, but there is no way he should be shouldering the blame for it. It is quite frankly ridiculous to suggest (as the article implies) that leadership from some other party would have altered the outcome or progress of the response to the virus. In the UK for example we have Labour simply agreeing to all restrictions proposed by the government uncritically. Is that the fault of Labour? Well, no, not really. What other choice do they have? Ultimately both sides have relied on the scientists to lead on this by agreeing to pour all the billions the scientists have asked for into health and research and operations into dealing with this crisis. They did what the scientists recommended. With respect to the USA, are red states faring any differently to blue states in their response to the virus because that is what the article implies we should expect to find.

Scientists trying to avoid blame is how I see it.

So to follow up on the New England Journal of Medicine's editorial that was excoriating of Trump.

It turns out, according to CNN, that the editorial in question was written back in August. So ask yourself if you believe it's release now is the work of non-political and independent health experts?

Remember it was an editorial and not a peer reviewed paper. At no point previously have the editors opined on coronavirus...

I hope she's fine and avoids it, but my niece who is pregnant and tested positive a few months back recovered pretty fast and shows no ill effects from it. Obviously everyone's different, but I hope that allays some concerns for you.
