In theory, given that a 2nd wave was almost universally predicted, you'd think that a lot of these things would be ready and waiting to be rolled out.
Yes and no. Lots of lessons learned from wave 1 (some debate it seems if this is still wave 1 or not) and better preparation for a spike, but it doesn't help prepare you for Government diktat and on the hoof decision making at national level applied to local areas.

Amazing how the likes of the Mail/Express/Telegraph are keen to highlight human rights and fundamental freedoms when it supports their position.

Human rights applied to law and order = bad

Oh no wait.....
Probably you didnt mean that piece but the article I posted a few pages back was from The Economist

Its literally in the numbers man...Dr Kenshin everyone.
You know what is funny.

I regurgitate actual statistics and it's dismissed!

I'm the crackpot for basing my opinions on facts and you are all sane of mind for just following whatever buzzword of the month is in the media.

When facts and statistics don't even count anymore in a discussion, well that's quite depressing to see.

  • They weren't your stats.
  • Just simply quoting stats doesn't provide any context or actual evidence unless you apply them effectively
  • Your 'facts' aren't actually facts they're mostly opinion you've dressed up as fact.
  • You then regurgitate said 'facts' as truth in order to provide evidence for your bizarre opinions.
  • Then when asked to clarify you pose a series of blindingly obvious statements dressed up as critical thought spattered with more bizarre conspiracy theory nonesense and clinical 'research' until it's pointed out you're wrong they you cry that you're being victimised.

You're not regurgitating statistics. You're taking the statistics and speculating on them in a way that suits your agenda. Because other respiratory illnesses are down, you confirm that they've just been marked on Covid, based on practically nothing. And you've ignored the possibility that other transmissable illnesses might be down because of all the hygiene measures - which has been confirmed by virologists in other studies.

No they aren't my stats , they are the official government ones. Why does that matter?

I have applied those stats to actual context and evidence many times now.

My opinions contain facts , as in the actual statistics. You can have both you know. Forming an opinion based on facts , otherwise we are just machines repeating a bunch of numbers.

What bizarre opinions are these? Old people are dying and the average age is 82? You need to be more specific there fella. It's a bizarre opinion to accuse someone of that without any examples.

Oh I cry I'm being victimised eh? When? When have I ever cried victim? I have had the balls to post my opinion on here and I don't cry victim when people don't agree. And what conspiracy theories are these? Again what crazy ideas have I had?

Spouting bullocks to make yourself sound more logical means nothing without a single example. You have just said i am all those things and not provided a single example.

More than happy to now discuss Dr kenshin with you if that is your wish. Just please offer examples next time so your post makes more sense.

;)

I note anthrax and TB deaths are down in the UK....

Similar to Covid19 symptoms has anyone considered that the drop in Anthrax and TB deaths are accounting for Covid deaths???????

The new definition is now death in a person with a laboratory-confirmed positive COVID-19 test and died within (equal to or less than) 28 days of the first positive specimen date will now be reported

Tell me how the idea that the magical hundreds missing respiratory deaths aren't largely part of the covid list when one has dropped and a new column has appeared alongside it.

And take into account the guidelines say a POSITIVE TEST and not died of covid as a means to move a patient from column a to column b.

So not crazy to suggest that at all. Actually takes the information and facts into account.

And this transmissible illnesses , when have o posted about that ever? I have very specifically ever mentioned respiratory deaths.

Answer me one thing. If hygiene measures are down then how did people still catch and die from covid in that time period? Because what you are suggesting is that people just stopped getting anything else because they were wearing a mask , including 1/3 of respiratory issues based on a 5 year average.

Think about it. You are suggesting that people stopped getting anything else in the time period but still got and died from covid.

I take it all back, you're the free thinking logical expert we need right now.

Tell me more about how Covid only affects the old and is literally pneumonia.

Why would; after months of public health messaging on hand washing and social distancing, mandatory mask wearing, enhanced PPE, H&S requirements to make spaces 'Covid safe' and public availability of hand santisers, hygiene measures be down?

Good read this. Particularly liked this bit "For months many governments have proclaimed that a vaccine is the complete solution, without any mention that not all potential vaccines will fill this role. Nonetheless, some quarters will push to roll out a vaccine, irrespective of its properties, and abandon other measures. It is not unreasonable for the public to expect this drive, given the failure to manage expectations to date. In this setting most people would experience little disease but those who currently are at greatest risk would find themselves completely exposed. This would be an inversion of the underlying principles guiding current interventions. Some might see this characterisation as absurd, but we have seen the world over how easily physical distancing seems to have been abandoned when people are led to believe, deliberately or otherwise, that new measures replace rather than complement earlier interventions.

Often it is difficult to offer solutions, but it is straightforward in this case: interventions that have been in use since early in the pandemic, most crucially physical distancing and hand hygiene, must continue indefinitely"
