@Kenshin can we get your critique on this one please?

what's the actual point of that graph though? Like, why are we comparing deaths between Flu and a completely new virus that we have no immunity to?

It's obvious COVID will kill more, and continue to do so unless we get some pissing immunity to it.. which this Gov doesn't seem to want to do

Simple.

How many of the covid deaths had pneumonia?

Given that a death within 28 days is classed as a covid death and not another illness then even if the pneumonia was what killed them it would make it on your bar chart as covid. So the covid death rate would therefore be much higher.

Additionally general respiratory deaths (non covid) are down by hundreds for the first time in years each week. Which suggests many of those missing figures are actually included in the covid figures because despite the cause of death, also tested positive within those 28 days.

Right?
No, not necessarily, it may well be that because of extra precautions, the less transmissible viruses are having less effect, and this theory may well be borne out by research.

Has that been the classification across the entire time frame of the chart?

i see courts in Spain have voided the MAdrid lockdown as it goes against peoiples 'basic rights'

first of many legal challenges i feel
Amazing how the likes of the Mail/Express/Telegraph are keen to highlight human rights and fundamental freedoms when it supports their position.

Human rights applied to law and order = bad

Oh no wait.....

Yeah, when general respiratory deaths magically drop by hundreds week after week and you have a new respiratory column that has hundreds in.

It's common sense where a lot of those missing numbers have gone.

It's in the official figures man. Respiratory deaths go from 11-12 hundred to around 800 for a lot of weeks July onwards. Still a big difference in drop every week since. Only the period between march and June can you see the excess numbers.

As the official guidelines say a covid death is anyone testing positive within 28 days , no surprise that the covid column is far bigger.

It's literally in the numbers.

In theory it's normally time for communications messages to be prepared, statutory agencies to fulfill their obligations and to give time to resource accordingly.

In theory, given that a 2nd wave was almost universally predicted, you'd think that a lot of these things would be ready and waiting to be rolled out.

Not to mention the "do gooder lawyers" that Patel was complaining about that were stopping her from acting inhumanely towards refugees. Not "those" human rights and freedoms, obviously.

Probably because the president of the United States and others keep making the false comparison
