Population control happens from time to time

If you 70 plus or suffer from underlying issues shelter as much as possible

Well yeah, but maybe some oap's / disabled can't and to they've chosen to universalise the method. I'm not doubting that the current government would manipulate all state sectors to get back out there without a seconds hesitation like.

Anyways, wonder what conditions those working/attending unemployment joints are like, are they back to face-to-face, or all online still?

It just seems daft, as they spent all summer, when cases were low, doing remote consultations, and now as soon as cases are sky rocketing, they're being told to get back out there again. Doesn't seem at all joined up to me. We made great strides with the deployment of technology in a sector that is ordinarily absolutely awful in using even moderately modern technology, and it's all being rolled back so Johnson can say it's busy as usual again. Fat knob head.

So the answer is to wipe out City Centres ?

Plus stats are showing that the spread of the virus within licensed premises is very low compared to many other places - people visiting other houses being the main one.

I never said that’s the answer I’m just saying I hope all those complaining about these new stricter measures have been decent and followed the rules otherwise they can’t moan.

It’s like disruptive school kids causing a school trip to get cancelled and then complaining the school trip got cancelled.

Imagine the mental health, poverty and crime that comes from this...

buts its fine protect the over 80s at all costs

Thing is,this thing isn’t just a danger to over 80s. So I’m totally for doing everything we can to save lives.

but the only solutions they have right now aren’t sustainable and there seems to be no real strive towards a vaccine or alternative

This is what I have been saying for the past week or so. The lockdown is protecting those who are most likely to die anyway no matter now callous it is to say it like that.

Same as average deaths are down significantly per week, respiratory deaths have magically dropped , the numbers for old age illnesses such as dementia have dropped. We could be talking thousands off the official total of covid deaths in reality.

Like I've asked before. Is ruining s young person's career a fair price to pay for protecting someone still who has the most chance to die? The irony being people say oh you can't just lock them up like prisoners, except they have literally the biggest chance of dying by going out right now!

I get the short term protection, the lockdowns, the preventative measures etc. They are all fine, the original lockdown was fine, these measures to some extent are fine. But they have to stop, for the good of millions who may be otherwise given an uphill battle that puts them in poverty .
If I was an old person who may have 6 months 2-3-4 years left then I would be going to see my grandkids taking them the park, shopping or whatever it maybe. Would I fook be sitting there lonely waiting for this farce to end, because there will be a lot in this position now who won’t see the end of this (and not because of Covid) and they may have already kissed and hugged their loved ones for the last time!
It’s mind boggling people are buying this. I’d like to see the views of the ‘save the gran’ crew when we’re sitting here in 12 months time struggling to put food on the table and people probably thinking do they want live anymore.

The aftermath of this is going to be off the scale if we don’t stop it now.

We did design measures to protect them: shielding. Funny thing is it still kills other demographics.
Does it?

The death rate 44 and under this year has not changed by hardly anything , especially when compared to last year.

In fact you don't start seeing what you would consider a significant increase until you go past 60.

The official numbers do seem to suggest that it's 60 plus most affected with that increasing as you move up age groups.

So why shut everyone down continually?

Hang on, are you suggesting it doesn’t kill younger demographics than OAP’s?

Does everyone in this thread hate old people or something?

"They'll die of something else in the end anyway, lad. We cant be expected to stop going the ale house or for some sit down scran for a few weeks to prevent that. It's just basic Darwinianism, lad"

You two are just as bad as the anti mask brigade and conspiracy theorist. Taking one extreme stance over the other.

Majority of people in this thread want a balance between saving lives and saving jobs and industry.

You both want to see everywhere shut down telling people to rely on the state when this is over to still have some semblance of a livelihood to come back to. That can’t happen.

The job market will contract and they’ll be mass unemployment which will lead to a much more devastating impact in the long term. It took Liverpool near on 30 years to recover from the late 70s/80s, we can’t have that happen again.

There’s a compromise to be had between saving lives and protecting the future of the country but you both seem unwilling to budge an inch on wanting everything shut down and having people rely on the state when it’s all done.

Have a look at the people around you and see what’s happening just six months in.

I literally haven’t once stated I want anywhere shut down but thanks for yet again putting words in my mouth. In fact I’ve never once suggested what I think the government should do in this thread.

Feel free to go back and quote me where I’ve said I want things shut down.

I do think it’s dangerous to still be suggesting that it’s fine for old people to just shelter etc - that’s not a solution either.
We need to get through the winter. Accept that.

just hope we have a solution come March

It’s not though mate.

The youth will always be the youth and will do what they want, that’s what being young is all about.

I’m not condoning them, but that’s just the way it is.

Like it or not we don’t “ make “ stuff anymore, our economy is reliant on the service / hospitality industry.

If it where to collapse the country would be ruined.

We’re already starting to see the beginning of it now with young people who can’t get jobs.

I get from your posts you’re not particularly bothered about people’s jobs and the impact a lockdown could have on industry.

Stop being so literal.

I’m fully confident there’ll still be a world where we need hotel/bar staff. People aren’t going to stop visiting our country. It’s been absolutely rammed for months in the Lakes now; can’t get accommodation unless you're the Queen.
