Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I get from your posts you’re not particularly bothered about people’s jobs and the impact a lockdown could have on industry.

Stop being so literal.

Stop trying to suggest what someone’s thoughts are when you’re not said person. I haven’t once advocated another lockdown either.

You’re honestly just being thick at this point and I can’t simplify my posts any more than I have.

You two are just as bad as the anti mask brigade and conspiracy theorist. Taking one extreme stance over the other.

Majority of people in this thread want a balance between saving lives and saving jobs and industry.

You both want to see everywhere shut down telling people to rely on the state when this is over to still have some semblance of a livelihood to come back to. That can’t happen.

The job market will contract and they’ll be mass unemployment which will lead to a much more devastating impact in the long term. It took Liverpool near on 30 years to recover from the late 70s/80s, we can’t have that happen again.

There’s a compromise to be had between saving lives and protecting the future of the country but you both seem unwilling to budge an inch on wanting everything shut down and having people rely on the state when it’s all done.

Have a look at the people around you and see what’s happening just six months in.

Leave the 80’s alone you monster.

We were the best team in the world, the music was great lol

Stop calling everyone thick who dosent agree with you

It’s not though mate.

The youth will always be the youth and will do what they want, that’s what being young is all about.

I’m not condoning them, but that’s just the way it is.

Like it or not we don’t “ make “ stuff anymore, our economy is reliant on the service / hospitality industry.

If it where to collapse the country would be ruined.

We’re already starting to see the beginning of it now with young people who can’t get jobs.

Tbf I don’t think it’s just young people doing what they want either.
The government rightly tried to open as much up as poss but that’s had obvious implications.

my frustration comes Because it was always going to result in a spike, and why is the only solution local lockdowns or curfew. It’s shambolic when they’ve had several months

I’m fully confident there’ll still be a world where we need hotel/bar staff. People aren’t going to stop visiting our country. It’s been absolutely rammed for months in the Lakes now; can’t get accommodation unless you're the Queen.

The City Centres and Lakeland towns are two completely different things and well you know it.

Do you think people will stop coming to Liverpool though, like honestly? The only reason they aren’t right now, or maybe being dissuaded, is the local restrictions isn’t it.

Have you noticed the city centre day/night being quieter than this time last year? I certainly didn’t on my few trips there in July.

No mate, you do this everytime your point of view is challenged.

Accuse someone of being thick to take the high ground.

Willing to discuss it with you but you do seem genuinely incapable of constructing an argument without being a dismissive bellend.

Okay, let’s discuss. You suggest I want everything shut down whilst we combat this.

Please provide your evidence and we shall proceed.

That’s because people are getting out as much as they can because they’ve been locked up for months. It won’t stop people wanting to come to Liverpool but it will stop being able to come to Liverpool due to restrictions and affordability. Also would you want to come to our city in a few months or a years time when half the bars restaurants are boarded up because they’ve gone bust?

If I was an old person who may have 6 months 2-3-4 years left then I would be going to see my grandkids taking them the park, shopping or whatever it maybe. Would I fook be sitting there lonely waiting for this farce to end, because there will be a lot in this position now who won’t see the end of this (and not because of Covid) and they may have already kissed and hugged their loved ones for the last time!
It’s mind boggling people are buying this. I’d like to see the views of the ‘save the gran’ crew when we’re sitting here in 12 months time struggling to put food on the table and people probably thinking do they want live anymore.

The aftermath of this is going to be off the scale if we don’t stop it now.
It has become clear that the attitude of shutting down and protecting seems to be extremely narrow minded. No matter how much we shut down, the numbers will come back again. No matter how much we protect , people will still die. Whilst the numbers are still as low as they are, there are plenty more causes of death that should demand more attention that it sadly doesn't. There's plenty more factors beyond just covid-19 that is forgotten about.

As much as people hate to hear it, deaths have not increased yet we have seen significant increases in positive cases. There's the whole 2 week thing mooted but we are at least 3-4 weeks into this and numbers aren't going up.

At some point this has to stop. Would people still be supportive of all these measures if the media specifically pointed out the numbers? Instead of the blanket it's killing us all, would people still be so happy with lockdown measures if they knew that chances are they are fine?

Like I've said numerous times, protect over prevent. Because you can't prevent the virus , you can just focus your protection however on those who need it more. The longer we don't do that, it impacts far more people and it will continue to destroy the economy.
