People are now panic buying paracetamol, after a news article emerged from France saying that Ibuprofen makes the illness more severe but paracetamol works well.

You can't get it anywhere now - sold out completely!

Thankfully I picked up a couple of packets of max strength cold and flu tablets a little while ago. I foresaw where this was all going.

My partner and I have got fully stocked cupboards and essentials. Not daft amounts I should add but enough to get us through a couple of weeks.

Been limited on purchases since last week round my way 16 per purchase rather than the normal 32.

Contact your local St Vincent de Paul, or local Meals on Wheels. HOWEVER, you will need Garda vetting before being allowed to represent any charitable organisation in direct contact with members of the public.

the relevant organisations will advise - it is much quicker than it used to be. The organisation now requests the garda vetting people to email you for your details. You respond and the vettign is conducted.

Mind you, vetting is required for every single different activity involving different people - So, e.g. vetting to help VdeP will not suffice for a community Meals on Wheels - this would need separate vetting.

Luckily I've garda vetting for my job and other volunteer roles.

Answering phone calls doesn't need garda vetting nor does helping with other admin stuff
