I've volunteered over here in Ireland

Not sure what I'll be doing yet. Could be driving groceries out to elderly people who are isolating, could be delivering prescriptions, could just be making or taking phone calls from worried people

I'm lucky enough to be off work and still being paid, so hopefully I can help in some way to the community and national effort

At my office, I would say that close to half of the staff are at home minding children because of schools being closed - we are being flexible here due to the nature of this crisis and there is no requirement to take a/leave.

We are also setting up everyone for the possibility of remote access to the organisation's systems, but there is a limited number of licences, and we will monitor these closely.

I still think a decison will be taken soon to close the building completely.

140,000 people are now out of work as a result of their employment shutting - if we close, our staff will continue to be paid as it is a State office.
State won't be able to maintain payments for state employees for too long if the country shuts down, might be OK for a few pay days but I'd imagine we'll have to take the hit that everyone else will.

How do you go about volunteering in Ireland? I'd be quite happy to do something, in a week or 2.
