Didn't mean it like that.

it's an example of how the experts can't agree what the best solution is.

The only way to prove how much lockdown has worked is whenever we come out of the restrictions.

I know that's a while off but it's already a failing in my eyes that in the six months since the spread in Europe, other solutions have not been found, or one solution such as track and trace has been developed so poorly.
I don't really think it is, pretty much every expert during the first lockdown said test amd trace would be essential to the re-opening process

Watching Hamburg ATP 500 tennis tourney, limited amount of spectators with the social distancing, not forced to wear mask either, so they can be even more passionate. Finally I can see people's facial expressions! Germans have the most common sense in Europe. A very good atmosphere. France and Italy on the other hand, allow the very same practice, albeit still telling spectators that mask should be worn all the time. Which is meh, outside, nobody next to me, still have to wear mask, looks even scary on TV.

You said furlough should be extended. This is nowhere near as costly.

I support it though, and agree it's good.
I look at it mostly from a breaker from inferction transmission. Yes, it's a good deal for anyone working a third of the time as they get 70% of pay. But it most importantly means people will be exposed less. Not ideal, but better than a simple scrapping of the furlough scheme with nothing in its place.

I told you there was a money tree.

Who's going to go for that ??? A few companies that can afford to keep valuable skilled staff ticking over for a few months, and even then there's a cap that will suppress this one positive. This won't work effectively here imo, not going to scratch the surface of what's coming..

I think we need to be worried about the people that will go from 80% of the salary to 0% more than the ones that work 33%

Not sure what the full benefits are possible if you suddenly lose your income but I doubt they compare well.

Employers get a £1000 per employee to retain staff too. I'm sure in dribs and drabs we'll see other state aid to prop industry up.

Benefit levels are shoite: now ex hedge fund spiv Sunak wants to freeze them along with public sector pay, and removal of the triple lock on pensions...give with one hand, take away with the other.

I hate to agree with Tory filth like Sunak, but he's right here:

Q: Some sectors of the economy are restricted, like hospitality. You did not extend the furlough scheme to those sectors. Are those areas where jobs will just have to go?

A: the hospitality sector is not paying any business rates. They have had cash grants of £10,000 or £25,000. There was Eat Out to Help Out. And it has had a VAT cut, which has been extended.
