Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I look at it like this.
If we abide by the new rules were we can’t visit anyone else’s house then some of us could possibly never see our parents again! They could pass away for various reasons that’s not COVID in the near future. Possibly in the next 6 months
Sorry but No goverment rule will ever stop me from going to see my parents or other family members whenever I want.
just think about that for second, some Tory wank stain is telling you you can’t go and see your parents, grandkids or grandparents!!! Hahahahaha ‘Koff

You think it's all made up anyway so y'know.

I fully understand the need to moderate behaviour and although they’ve made a Complete mess of this it’s an unenviable position for any government but I can’t help but think in March plenty of us speculating when the lockdown was lifted wouldn’t it just come back again and it has . That was 6/7 months ago when many pointed out without effective track and trace it feels like almost a can kicking exercise with huge economic impact . So now we start again with the impending flu season , then what we lift it again for another two months in next March ?

I’m not someone looking to dismiss this seriousness and I honestly don’t know what we should do and I know doing nothing is in no way the answer but this feels like another ‘short term circuit break’ with a long term impact . I’m just someone struggling to see where we go with this .
I dont know why you're confused. The only thing this government has got right in this crisis was early on and those messages they gave about the course of the virus over the next 12 months or so (from last March): they said then it'd be a series of breakers put in place to flatten out infections. That - short of a vaccine being in play - is the only way to attack the situation. Activity when the infection rate is low then hunker down when it starts to increase again. Unfortunately they aren't doing that (right now at least) and we have some half arsed policy of requesting the public to do the right thing rather than take control and shut certain economic activities down and reduce mobility in a number of other ways.

In short: the methodology is there, they just haven't repeated what they did in March...though when the fatalities mount I expect that to happen...too late again.

It's barely changing anything. Why are people wetting the bed?

Not sure if it's the case in England, but where I am, you aren't allowed anyone in your house or to go to anyone else's house unless it's for childcare or a medical emergency.

If I want to pop round for a 15 minute chat with my Granny or whoever, I have to break the law. And there's talk of it being 6 months?

It’s odd because you lumped Sweden in with us at the start of all this because they didn’t lock everyone down and they were every bit as bad as Murder Inc.

Now they have a lower death rate because ‘it’s a different society’.

Another Davek flip flop.
No, just you (again) misinterpreting what I actually stated for your own ends.

The UK Government were following a Swedish model, until they seen their arses over projected death tolls.

It happens. We haven't seen the Czech family for a year.

Can you talk to your granny with her stood in her doorway and you stand a bit back?

Ah you can’t answer that question like no one can.

Just for the record I don’t think it’s made up at all I think it’s not the highly contagious killer it’s made out to be or we would of had hundreds of thousands more deaths and cases 10-14 days from the events I mentioned but we never so why?? There isnt any logic in what we’re getting told and what’s happening.

We're screwed in this country. Just look at the nations who have failed in this crisis: the US, Brazil, the UK...and even in Sweden where the state took the decision to allow a laissez faire approach. I
People have a go at me for using 'murderers' as an epithet for them. But I genuinely believe that's what they are...because all the evidence points that way.
Yes Dave. I’m misrepresenting your viewpoint that Sweden ‘failed’ and wasn’t part of Murder Inc. Oh wait. I’m not.

Well yeah but it's not ideal and I would probably need to shout lol

It was just an example though. Letting our older relatives live in isolation over winter with little or no interaction other than over the phone, is pretty serious to me. There are serious social issues it could cause and it's not as simple as just telling folk to cut themselves off from others.

I trust the scientists advising us on this more than you I'm afraid.

as I’ve said before and you took it sarcastically whether it’s Corbyn , Martinez or the way to deal with this crisis I’d love to to have you absolute faith in anything .its an almost religious fervour in which you’re 100% convinced that your way is the only right way and any slight deviation from that path is insanity .

ive simply never had that much faith in myself or anything else so I constantly reevaluate or re-examine pretty much every situation . That’s not something you face , so in short that’s why I’m a bit confused or conflicted .
