No I don't funnily enough. I don't believe in denying free speech and turning Britain into a totalitarian state.

You only added in the incitement bit to your argument after people called you out for being so ridiculous!
The incitement "add on" as you put it is a clarification. Now will you deal with the question....?

What?? This thread is about coronavirus.

Of course I don't support racial hatred. What are you actually on about.
That example - as you well KNOW - was given to you in order to underline that you and others would affirm that people who utter BS racism are encouraging hate crime but you seemingly wont affirm that someone who incites others to break covid19 restrictions by telling them its all baloney is similarly transgressing.

That's YOUR contradiction; YOUR dilemma.

What next pandemic? It was 60 years since the last one and 50 years from the one before.

We aren't opening up now as we clearly are moving into lockdown measures so the here and now is a moot point, we are still actively working to get numbers down again. Say another 3 months from now should we still be locking everywhere down again? If the average age of death isn't coming down?

At what point do you appreciate who is dying but accept that the other 60 years of age groups are much less at risk still and try and go back to normal? We should he protecting everyone sure but if you are actively shutting the country down for 80 year olds who at normally at risk from most things anyway, then eventually that stops making sense.

If the plan now is to finally get a grip on things then these measures are welcome. To be able to properly manage them then sure , lock us down locally , make us wear masks everywhere in the here and now.

But another 3 months from now. Is the price of destroying businesses / lives / mental health / careers etc a fair trade after 9 months of managing a virus that is still maintaining a much bigger risk to those who are in much higher age brackets?

It's not about sod them, it's about protecting them. The same as we protect them from other risks at that age. We can put all the protective measures in place for them and go back to normal.

Otherwise it's not just people that will be dying in the country.

Yes, pandemics. As we have seen now, they have a massively disruptive effect and we need to ensure we can cope with them. I’d have thought the economic damage this one has caused, just to this country, would have paid for a proper public health system many times over. I think it was Admiral Beresford who said “battleships are cheaper than battles” and the same applies here.

As for the rest, again this is a false choice. We can protect far more people *and* reopen far more of the economy than we are; that we aren’t doing this is criminal incompetence.

I don't really know what you mean? Do you mean people encouraging others to break covid rules? Like someone encouraging a pub to stay open past 10 etc? At the end of the day it's up to individuals to make their own choices and to be responsible for their own behaviour.

But generally no I don't agree with your point at all. There's no point spinning it. You said you wanted people jailed who have an opinion that covid is not a threat.

People should not be jailed for having a stupid opinion. And that also applies to people who have daft opinions on coronavirus. I'd rather not live in a totalitarian state.

I’ve given him an ultimatum.

He either stops pissing about or else I’m sending his details to Dave, so that Dave can “ re educate “ him.

It’s either that or he joins the Marines.

I’m a long way from a Boris fan (think he’s an imbecile) but his initial statement in the commons then was fine. Trying to strike a balance between “shut everything down” and “let’s get back to normal”. Putting emphasis on people to follow the rules.

Time will tell whether it works, but it’s an effort at a balanced approach.

However his replies to Starmer’s questions about track and trace, and the furlough scheme were absolutely woeful, and showed a lack of willingness to even accept there was an issue.
