Disagree, they called this second wave ‘in September’ back in March.

I was being sarcastic... your post made it sound like the only rule breaking that's causing spikes is masks when everyone knows it's a blatant disregard for social distancing. Anyone denying that is either blind, intransigent or sniffs glue 24/7 and doesn't notice.

People don’t follow the rules, simple as that. Can blame the gov all you want for things like this but it’s the rest of us forcing their hand to make these decisions in the first place.

Obviously a lot of truth to this. But the Government can't even lead by example so what do you expect.

Of course, not absolving them whatsoever, it's been a sham for me ever since the Cummings crap but things like further lockdowns/restrictions only come in place when stuff has gone wrong. Not saying the rules we've been asked to follow have all been clear but they're also bloody simple.

The government have been encouraging people to go out for food, back to work, down the pub, pretty much said its business as usual soon as cases began to drop.

You can’t expect the public, especially the younger population to disregard that and stay at home.

They encouraged all this and now they’re seeing their arse.

I’ve given him an ultimatum.

He either stops pissing about or else I’m sending his details to Dave, so that Dave can “ re educate “ him.

It’s either that or he joins the Marines.

Pasties....pestilence...piss ups...plagues...Leighton Baines...
Yeah, pandemics are hilarious.

1 million dead.

Think the problem with the public is we are trying to adopt an ordinary life (for economical reasons) by telling them we have extraordinary problems. It is a fierce contrast.

If we have a deadly and dangerous virus on our hands, (and I assume we do) then how come we have the luxury of thinking about protecting the economy. Who cares about machines if we may not have any qualified humans to use it, if it leads to hospitals being overwhelmed, if it crushes the society in any way possible. Therein lies my problem. If that is not the case and we actually have to care about financial means, then it is not THAT much of a deadly and dangerous stuff. Nobody thought of economy when the plague was a thing. They couldn't afford that.

I’m a long way from a Boris fan (think he’s an imbecile) but his initial statement in the commons then was fine. Trying to strike a balance between “shut everything down” and “let’s get back to normal”. Putting emphasis on people to follow the rules.

Time will tell whether it works, but it’s an effort at a balanced approach.

However his replies to Starmer’s questions about track and trace, and the furlough scheme were absolutely woeful, and showed a lack of willingness to even accept there was an issue.

I think the measures are sensible. A pub 10.00pm shutdown is probably the absolute least he could have done to show that ‘something is being done’ yet not overly degrading the industry. It will make almost no difference to our pub, but town centre and city pubs will feel a hit. The Police in towns and cities, together with Hospital A&E will probably be made up.....
