Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Par for the course.

Think the problem with the public is we are trying to adopt an ordinary life (for economical reasons) by telling them we have extraordinary problems. It is a fierce contrast.

If we have a deadly and dangerous virus on our hands, (and I assume we do) then how come we have the luxury of thinking about protecting the economy. Who cares about machines if we may not have any qualified humans to use it, if it leads to hospitals being overwhelmed, if it crushes the society in any way possible. Therein lies my problem. If that is not the case and we actually have to care about financial means, then it is not THAT much of a deadly and dangerous stuff. Nobody thought of economy when the plague was a thing. They couldn't afford that.
Market towns with coin washing facilities on the outskirts say 'no'.

Problem is that this government are about centralising power and control but can't organise as well as bunch of medieval peasants.

So what happens if the UK becomes Covid free?

Oh some blert goes skinny dipping in Ibiza and brings it back and the whole thing starts back up again.

Its a farce at this point.

I think the measures are sensible. A pub 10.00pm shutdown is probably the absolute least he could have done to show that ‘something is being done’ yet not overly degrading the industry. It will make almost no difference to our pub, but town centre and city pubs will feel a hit. The Police in towns and cities, together with Hospital A&E will probably be made up.....

city pubs will be badly hit , tough to imagine you coming in when you’ll be walking out the door at 10pm but it’s restaurants I think that will take the hit . Last Bookings at what 8.30/8.45 , that’s a real kicking to them I’d imagine .

Apparently they have money trees growing in the back, that will see them through the worst if it.

Just read this statement on the BBC:

Gloucester chief executive Lance Bradley says the government's announcement on postponing the reintroduction of fan to venues will have a "significant financial impact".

He said: "It’s obviously disappointing - health is paramount but it’s disappointing. We ran a pilot programme last Monday where we had 1,000 fans back into Kingsholm Stadium. We took very detailed measures in conjunction with the relevant authorities to make sure people were socially distanced while they were there and we feel that the event was a success. It is vital to us that we get fans back in as quickly as it’s safe to do so.

"In a city like Gloucester where we are the only large sporting club, there are a lot of people who do rely on us for their wellbeing, their mental wellbeing and everything else. It depends on what the definition of essential is and for some people it is important to get out. In terms of mingling, everyone at Kingsholm on Monday was socially distant, so they were no closer to anybody than they would be if they went to a park or anywhere else outside. And outside is where we believe the risk is the least.

"Matchday income from fans makes up about a third of our total income so it’s a significant part. It’s challenging financially."

Easy for him to say when he drives into the ground and goes to a corporate box. I wonder if you offered these people the choice you can have the stadiums open but you have to go by the crowded bus/train and then queue at the turnstiles and up through the stairs and having people close to you during the game/getting refreshments, whether they would still feel the same, even with reduced numbers.

So do we wear a facemask into the pub/restaurant, take if off at the table to eat & drink, on to go to the loo, off at the table, on to leave pub/restaurant?

Just for clarity.
Just leave it off full stop and crack on as normal you ain’t going to drop dead if you dont

They're clueless money grabbing gets. Who gives a flying one about sport when this is kciking off again?

For the love of God, to all those saying you would just open it up so everyone takes their chances
  1. This does not just kill old people.
  2. You don't know the long term health impacts.
  3. If it overwhelms the NHS people will start dying of other illnesses and diseases that they could have survived.
  4. It looks like you can catch it again with mutated variants so nothing to say you won't be laid seriously ill or worse the 2nd time around.

Are you intentionally being a moron today? Can you at least save it for nearer the weekend.
No mate I’m not being anything, I’m have a choice to not wear a mask and I choose to not too! Yesterday is the only time I wore one when coming back to work because I had too.
