Who is crying ?

I don’t get it. They’re reporting the news, you don’t have to read or listen to it.

There are some popular outlets out there like Talk Radio who are slamming the idea of a second lockdown. Are they not ‘the media’ ?

I can only assume he reads The Daily Mail.

That sort of paper does a lot of crying about various things.

I think they know that they can't do another lockdown for as long as last time, if they are forced into one. You saw in the end that the people didn't give a flying one as soon as it lifted and were basically undoing the work.

This is not a good outlook to have. The restrictions are to prevent it getting to the point where people start dying in their hundreds. In March the hospitals had the winter strain still in the system as the covid patients were flying in but once you hit that limit then people start dying and not just covid but of regular illnesses that could have been treated if capacity was there. With the jump that can be seen in France/Spain it's only a matter of time here too. Do nothing and you might max out that capacity before the winter and then you'll have people dying of heart attacks/strokes/regular flu etc. that shouldn't and even if they survive the hospital might be whacked full with covid and that might finish them off while they are recovering.

With all due respect wake up and stop being selfish.

I think most people followed the rules as they were set.

Blame the message from the government who encouraged people to go on holiday, eat out and return to normal.

The media have been a disgrace throughout the whole pandemic mate - crying for a lockdown then when in lockdown crying about economic ruin and job losses / mental health crisis.

They want their cake and to eat it.
Taking out the “crying” accusation which I’m a tad unclear about, isn’t it possible to believe that a lockdown was/is in some circumstances the best solution out of a very bad set of options but still had/has significant downsides?

Yes and no in my book, I agree the message was/is crap but people also have to take personal responsibility for their actions. I'd like to think in the 21st century that we aren't all sheep waiting at the traffic lights ready for someone to tell us what to do. The virus was never going to disappear.

But saying that I was in Sainsbury's tonight and they are dismantling the perspex screens...just at the point this is about to kick off again. So I can understand why some might think oh it's over when people in charge aren't doing what's best.

That seems unwise - if only for colds/flu season!

Sadly mate there are many different people in this world, there's sheep, there's people that still claim its a hoax, there's the "its only flu" bottom feeders, then there's everything above and inbetween.

I must admit, I had slight fears for a 2nd wave in the Winter, but I didn't see it coming so early and they were only slight, I honestly thought we had taken the edge of the whole thing, but here we are.

You couldn't make it up. Even if it's a token gesture and saves 1 out of 1000 getting it, it's still worth it and helps people stay alert and not slide back to old habits.

Are they banking on face masks doing that job for them? We know some people are exempt and children will still be around with their parents.

Its a massive " We don't care about you" to the staff sadly.

What are the stocks of bog roll like ?
We got so much in that we had to reduce it to clear what we had. Same with pasta, same with rice and flour.
The supply chain of goods will be fine whatever happens next, but like I said, the talk of Christmas has deffo sold a few frozen turkeys already.

He is like this in every current affairs thread. Says the same thing over and over again with a few buzz words and then just stops responding at the third time of asking.

I haven't a problem with any solution per say im more bothered about the media being a corporate entity these days that have to have an opinion on everything.

I just want 1. News & 2. Facts

Not scaremongering leading to panic buying, clickbait article headline notifications popping up on my phone every second, predictions of 2nd waves every day.

The media have/are using the pandemic to generate as much profit for them as possible - I totally get the reasons but I dont agree with it and think the way they have reported this thing every since Covid hit UK soil will have tipped many over the edge sadly.
