Yeah California put in some prioritization during the summer when things got hectic as you do need the focus on the outbreaks and get decent turnaround time if you have a hope to control them.

But you also hope that there is equal focus on expanding the long term supply of tests, especially as coming into autumn/winter.

Do you have an idea how much Covid tests are costing healthcare providers ? Not seen it mentioned but I wonder

The new lab is expected to begin processing coronavirus tests in November. When the lab is at full capacity in March and processing as many as 150,000 tests per day, the cost per test is expected to be a little more than $30, Newsom said. Currently, Medicare and Medi-Cal pay about $100 per coronavirus test, and the average overall cost varies from $150 to $200 per test, state officials said.

They're blagging it to cover up their criminal negligence.

There isn't that much more to it than that. The whole country can see it.

People being advised to travel 200 miles to get a test; people being "informed" they might want to backheel a test because it "might" be a cold.

FFS, this lot will kill the 'kin lot of us.

Wont kill me or Mrs R. Soz, but thats my job.

Hospital figures - 24 deaths were announced today, up 11 on yesterday and up 16 on last Thursday. 18 deaths were in English hospitals, up 7 on yesterday and up 10 on last week with all of them occurring in the past 10 days. The 7 day rolling average rises to an even 11

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 21 deaths were announced today, up one on yesterday and up 7 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 13.86

For the 60 day cut off, 32 deaths were announced today, up 10 on yesterday’s eventual announced total of 22 and up 9 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 19.86

For the legacy/no cut off, 68 deaths were announced today, up one on yesterday’s eventual announced total of 67 and down 56 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 47.14

So deaths are falling despite an increase in infections?

Yet we are having more restrictions?

Scaremongering from the media has put us in this mess.

Being made to wear masks in the office now.

It was fine without them for 5 months whilst we were one of the hotspots for covid patients with barely a bottle of sanitiser between over 30 of us.

Apparantly now we are endangering each other .
ridiculous, it's inhumane.

Its increased slightly in terms of recent weeks but the way the media are going on you would think there were hundreds dropping hence the drastic need for another lockdown.

Its become a farce - we can't go on like this.

I don’t know what you mean honestly.

I just see newspapers and websites reporting the news, hardly shocking.

This is what’s funny about the whole thing. On one side you’ve got people like Davek saying the BBC are in the pocket of genociders, and then a whole other gang of people saying the media are scaremongering into another lockdown.

Could it be perhaps that the truth is somewhere in the middle ? o_O

The media have been a disgrace throughout the whole pandemic mate - crying for a lockdown then when in lockdown crying about economic ruin and job losses / mental health crisis.

They want their cake and to eat it.

Who is crying ?

I don’t get it. They’re reporting the news, you don’t have to read or listen to it.

There are some popular outlets out there like Talk Radio who are slamming the idea of a second lockdown. Are they not ‘the media’ ?

Think at this point we should be thinking about a small 2 week lockdown, but as somebody pointed out, it would probably never end.

No idea what the solution is, but the last thing we need is 000s of people going to football matches, which is what will happen this weekend........................

I think they know that they can't do another lockdown for as long as last time, if they are forced into one. You saw in the end that the people didn't give a flying one as soon as it lifted and were basically undoing the work.

This is not a good outlook to have. The restrictions are to prevent it getting to the point where people start dying in their hundreds. In March the hospitals had the winter strain still in the system as the covid patients were flying in but once you hit that limit then people start dying and not just covid but of regular illnesses that could have been treated if capacity was there. With the jump that can be seen in France/Spain it's only a matter of time here too. Do nothing and you might max out that capacity before the winter and then you'll have people dying of heart attacks/strokes/regular flu etc. that shouldn't and even if they survive the hospital might be whacked full with covid and that might finish them off while they are recovering.

With all due respect wake up and stop being selfish.
