Yes, I can assure you they WILL be alright. Believe it ot not there are worse things in life than losing a job - like losing your life to a deadly virus., for example.

There's some utter tosh being posted about young people losing their jobs and kids being denied schooling; it's a massive fig leaf for many to hide behind because they want their corner of the ecomnony left untouched and / or their leisure activities left untouched.

which none of the people in that age bracket will do, ie die from it.

stop being a selfish idiot. So it's ok for people between 19-24 to lose their jobs and prospects because it may kill older people?

Hearing lots of schools round me are starting to show up lots of cases with whole year groups being sent home. This is about to explode again isn’t it

The " bubble " thing will deffo help.

A kid tested positive in my lads school yesterday and they sent his " bubble " home, rather than the entire year.

My lads school are also giving them a weeks work online every week, just in case they get sent home.

He makes no mention either as to who is going to pick up the tab for all the people who lose their jobs, with regards to benefits, re training, people losing their houses who will need accommodation. Then there`s the breakdown of families, due to divorce, alcohol / drug abuse, mental health / suicide etc.

He won`t be happy until we`re all living in some kind of Barter Town like in Mad Max

Read that bit back to yourself and recognise your own emotional detachment.

Look, it's as simple as this: I will never accept any plan that has written into a devil take the hindmost philosophy.

I know that after 40 years of neo-liberalism rammed down our 'kin necks in this country that we're all supposed to take a very relaxed view about acting like a pack of wild dogs and looking after ourselves and looking away from other people's plights, but I dont and never will buy into that scumbag world view.

Ha Ha Ha...which is all stabilised when the pubs are open.

Utterly clueless.

Perhaps something to consider when we aspire to keep all of us locked away for ever more.

I said before, had my nan lived to this point she would have been killed off (if the carers bringing the virus to her hadn't got her first) by the loneliness of a complete lockdown. Dammed if you do or don't.

Aye for sure. These kids had all been at a local fair at the weekend though. I imagine some schools are probably doing this better than others

I’d find your argument and position significantly more compelling if you didn’t dismiss anyone losing their job or struggling to pay bills as “they’ll be alright “.

I don’t know what the answer is and I’m certain we’ll see more local lockdowns , which I’m sure will be the right decision . I’m honestly saying what I’m saying because we can’t just forget about everyone and say they’ll have to get used to reduce wages , losing their jobs or retraining . This is horrific on a number of levels, I’m not pretending this virus isn’t real as it’s hit close to home to me in a number of serious ways. However We could literally be years from a workable Viable vaccine , I appreciate that’s unpalatable but it’s true and If that’s the case do we stayed locked down til then ? We’d have abandoned a generation and cost thousands their livelihoods . I’m just happy I’m not presently making decisions because frankly I don’t have a clue , I just know I’m someone that feels or rather hopes they care or tries to care and empathise for others .

Maybe if you didn’t call people scallies , lumpen proletariat, mouth breathers, profiteers and the rest It’d be easier to see where you’re coming from .

"mr hancock, my constituent can't get a test in Twickenham but when they enter an aberdeen postcode they are able to get the test in Twickenham. What's going on and what should we advise?"

"do not game the system, tell your constituents that we have record capacity and that the average distance is 6 miles

There's a hierarchy of people we need to be protecting. My point is that everything we do has to be calculated to protect the (roughly) 2.5M people we know to have shouldered the worst of this virus so far and will be asked to do so for the foreseeable. I dont wish to see people lose thor jobs over subordinating everything to that main objective, and there's no need for it to happen in the volume being discussed on here - if it does happen that way, it'll have been a political decision not to step in and save jobs. It's not inevitable the hosiptality sector would have mass unemployment, it'd be political policy to let that sector go the wall. I dont think in a month of Sundays the government would or could do that.

On the near future: I disagree with you that we could be years away from a vaccine breakthrough - so no generation is going to lose their ability to make a living. A combination of reordering the way we live, adding drugs to the list of those which can aid a recovery from infection, and a vaccine that hands us at least enough protection to get through the flu seasons are feasible. We'll adapt and adjust.

Never called anyone mouth breathers; and people who flout guidlelines there to help the majority get through this pandemic are scallies and lumpen.

If theres another lockdown i will be in a bad way

Money wise and mental health wise

fact

Completely understand this but everyone needs to do there bit to help prevent one. It seems people are getting more and more lax, the school run is a nightmare now. People jostling around, blocking exits/entries having a natter so your forced to go close to them. Saw parents in the local shop not wearing masks. Since the kids have gone back it has gotten a lot worse.

All these people will probably be the first to complain why do we need another lockdown and be upset the shops are shut and the kids are at home etc. Grinds my gears.
