There's a hierarchy of people we need to be protecting. My point is that everything we do has to be calculated to protect the (roughly) 2.5M people we know to have shouldered the worst of this virus so far and will be asked to do so for the foreseeable. I dont wish to see people lose thor jobs over subordinating everything to that main objective, and there's no need for it to happen in the volume being discussed on here - if it does happen that way, it'll have been a political decision not to step in and save jobs. It's not inevitable the hosiptality sector would have mass unemployment, it'd be political policy to let that sector go the wall. I dont think in a month of Sundays the government would or could do that.

On the near future: I disagree with you that we could be years away from a vaccine breakthrough - so no generation is going to lose their ability to make a living. A combination of reordering the way we live, adding drugs to the list of those which can aid a recovery from infection, and a vaccine that hands us at least enough protection to get through the flu seasons are feasible. We'll adapt and adjust.

Never called anyone mouth breathers; and people who flout guidlelines there to help the majority get through this pandemic are scallies and lumpen.

im multi tasking so don’t think I’m avoiding discussing your reply but just on the vaccine none of us have any idea whether we’ll get one and if we do when do we ? I mean we can hope , speculate even pray but we simply have not a single clue so to say that we’ll definitely have one in a set time Period is wrong isn’t it ? I think we probably will and I certainly hope so but in reality we just don’t know so the fact it might be a lengthy period away can’t just be disbursed our of hand can it ?

Unless you yourself have stuck 100% to all the rules and regs (I doubt it) then you can't complain if you go into another lockdown.

Can anybody say they’ve stuck to the rules 100%?

I can’t. Life happens, and there’s been occasions where I’ve been complacent and I think it’s happened with the majority from time to time.

Well you can complain like. People are entitled to not agree with another lockdown. I certainly don't.

The overwhelming vast majority of people, myself included, have tried their best to follow the rules. But it's not a sustainable long term policy and people will start to gradually comply less, even if it's only subconsciously. Especially since logic has gone out the window on a lot of things.

I guess that depends on the term "essential food". My loose definition meant anything that a supermarket stocked.

So I have 100% stuck to the rules. But most know why.

The " bubble " thing will deffo help.

A kid tested positive in my lads school yesterday and they sent his " bubble " home, rather than the entire year.

My lads school are also giving them a weeks work online every week, just in case they get sent home.
My kids school have bubbles. Spent fortunes on kit for social distancing.
It works perfectly.

Until home time, when the gobshite Ice Cream van parks outside and has a queue of 40-50 adults and kids all stood there buying stuff.

Nah, not for me. If you're someone that blatantly ignores simple rules you have no leg to stand on when it comes back to bite you on the arse.

Personal opinion of course but I'll stand with it.

You sir are a pastie guzzling, lager swilling MURDERING SERF and are first in line for a volley of baton rounds, followed by a good old trampling under the hooves of the first cavalry charge.
