Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

What you’ve just said makes absolutely no sense, to be fair.

They are deliberately encouraging further spread by introducing rules to stop the spread, so that they can prove they were right to introduce rules to stop the spread, despite deliberately trying to increase the spread to introduce rules to stop the spread.

So why not an instant reaction to it?

That's my point. Why wait until Monday if the rules affect now? All that does is encourage people to get one last weekend in which is counter productive to the ruling. Which in turn means it will take longer to recover if in fact it increases positive tests.

So by delaying it by s few days, it gives those extra people chance to get positive so then the numbers match the need to do it.

Given it's young people who will be doing it , who are less likely to need serious treatment , it's not gambling with lives.

It’s no different to the quarantine from foreign countries giving people a few days to get home. You give people chance to adjust their plans so that they aren’t breaking the law overnight.

You’ve then determined this is proof of some deliberate government plan to further increase the spread of the virus, it makes no sense.

I'm merely suggesting it.

We aren't talking about lockdown , it's groups of people. So why not ban large groups of people instantly if that is a concern for spreading the virus? Why wait for that lovely weekend to pass by?

It's not changing plans, people don't need 4 days notice to stop being in groups of 7 or more. It's not to get existing plans out the way because that's not now pandemic control works.

So why delay it? What logical reason is there to delay something designed to stop people catching a virus?

Of course they do ?

Plenty of families go on holidays or weekends away in groups of more than 6 people.

You may not be staying in the same property but if you can’t even meet outdoors it is a lot more restrictive than the current rules.

So they really need 4 days notice?

Common sense can't kick in and tell them they all can't go out together?

If they are on holiday then that is completely different than just social gatherings! The holiday parks wouldn't just kick them out the next day until they met the required amount. Plus you really think anyone on holiday will cut it short ?

Literally don't need notice for it. You can't do something , end of , not in a few days. If people planned to go away this weekend , it should tough luck, it's a pandemic get over it.

So the alternative has encouraged more people to go out and socialise this weekend whilst they still can. Great job, that will help ...

It isn’t.

Have you actually looked at the new laws ?

If you were staying in a holiday park with your two kids and wife for example and you were with another family group of four then you would not be allowed to socialise indoors or outdoors together anywhere at the holiday park from Monday. Or anywhere else for that matter.

Introducing that overnight would have been extremely disruptive.

Introducing that overnight would have been mental.
So you really think they are going to go home Sunday even if they were booked into next week? Honestly ?

Not to point this out as being obvious but kids are back at school so very likely that there will be minimal on holiday now (this week understandably).

So the only ones who will be on holiday now will be adults for the most part.

It's a really bad example you are running with here. It's a pandemic , it doesn't make sense to delay and create more damage.

And yes , you can have groups of 6 as per the law. You know how common bigger groups are than 6? Not very, do you often go out in groups of 7? Do you often see groups of 7 in places socialising?

No reason not to put it in place overnight.

Groups of more than 6 really aren’t uncommon at all. That’s two families with a couple of kids each.

To be honest I can’t understand your stance anyway, one minute you seem to be saying masks aren’t necessary and the virus has been overblown and then you’re arguing that restrictions being introduced a few days later is too risky.

No , my stance hasn't changed. I just understand what I'm being told I have to do. I'm an adult, saying my opinion online doesn't change the fact I've been told to wear a mask for example. No i don't see the point 4 months later but that's the rules so I wear one .

So if the government say you can't have groups of 7 or more then that's what we do. Not have a nice weekend in groups whilst we can, it's what will help contain the virus so do it.

There is a difference with my opinion and government rulings. Quite funny how people try to dismiss what I'm saying because I'm not a doctor but then actually backing the rulings is also deemed weird?

Like I say there is no reason why the ruling couldn't have come into place overnight. Imagine applying that logic to the original lockdown? The Bolton restrictions came in overnight? Didn't that inconvenience people there as well? Didn't matter though. So these new rulings should be been instant , whether people liked it or not.
