I don't personally think it's right to dictate when someone else needs help or what they're doing is unhealthy. Leave that for them to tell you.

You can look out for friends but you shouldn't try impose your way of life on them.
I didn't see anything to suggest dictating or imposing anything about what he should do, simply concern that the behavior is unhealthy and could be damaging.

Personally, I'm not sure 'leaving someone to tell you' if they are experiencing problems is the best course of action. Giving options, suggestions and continuing to keep contact, then listening when they want to talk is usually better.

'Meanwhile the U.K. is one the highest test performing countries in the world..."

This bit.

Did you actually see the comparison of the U.K. (In 4th place) and hitting similar numbers to the 3 above it, while out testing Germany, France, Spain, Italy etc by quite a long way.....

I didn’t expect it all from him.

We were out as normal the weekend before the lockdown and then he just announced that he wouldn’t be out anymore as it was “ too risky “.

He’s a computer boy, so can work from home virtually permanently.

I’ve tried everything to get him out, even suggesting a bevy outdoors at the local golf course by us :

“ can’t be sure the glasses are sterile “
“ can’t be sure of the staff “
“ can’t be sure the tables / chairs are safe “
“ can’t be sure the toilets are safe “
“ can’t be sure of the other customers”

You can see now why I’ve given up !
Maybe do something that doesn't involve going to the pub or in an environment where he might come into contact with things he's concerned about. Walk in a quiet park maybe?

If you read my other posts I said this.

Thats the way, ignore the facts, ignore the data, just make it political or personal......
Hahaha. Doubling down and trying a far more sophisticated solution to distract from the simple solution one's failed abysmally to implement only works with 'useful idiots' like yourself.

You literally just gave him advice yourself ffs.
I work in a Community Mental Health Team a secondary service, referral only. The amount of busy bodies who have gone out of their way to find our number and snitch on, friends cough cough, neighbours etc, is frankly scary...

Does wonders for those people who are experiencing paranoia (note sneering sarcasm)
