Well that’s a relief. And Hancock said the risk of catching it in offices was also very small. It’s a wonder anyone caught the damn thing in the first place, given how seemingly low risk it is.

The thing is, the rest of the comment does fall back on data from around the world, which by and large has supported the view that schools aren’t a major source of infection. That does make more sense. Are they 100% safe? No, but what exactly is?

I do think in the grand reckoning we will need to look at the start of the outbreak and determine what caused the massive spread, I often wonder how interlinked the mass hysteria to shop at the beginning of this and viral spread are.

Well the joint letter from the Chief Medical Officers was geared more around the low risk of serious harm to children, which we’ve known since the start. But yeah, I accept that nothing is zero risk, and it’s now about risk management, rather than avoidance.

The letter also says that data showed teachers were the more likely cause of transmission, but that does seem at odds with Hancock saying that offices are low risk.

If the last few weeks have told me anything, I feel it's now quite acceptable to scrap schooling altogether and just give every young person some A* grades and be done with it.

Word in the German media currently is that the majority of cases are coming from private households, e.g. private parties, family gatherings, weddings, things like that. As well as care homes, religious gatherings etc.
