Everyone else will be fine except for the fighters potentially. A risk they are willing to take?
My whole point was that say the fighters are in camp with no masks etc on, one contracts the virus which then reaches the boxer who then transfers it to the opponent and so on, thus making those masks obsolete

It's about limiting the potential for the spread as far as is practicable.

To say that 2 boxers not wearing masks means that the whole concept of social distancing "makes no sense" is just daft.

Entitled to your opinion fella thats sound just makes no sense to me. For example, there was an nhs advert on today about going to the shop which said “make sure you maintain 2 metres social distance but if you cant make sure its 1 metre with extra precautions” they didnt explain the extra precautions so how can expect people to follow what they say. I understand the concept of social distancing and i do it myself whenever im out or in work but surely 2 boxers knocking eachother to bits completely goes against it, same with football.

Of course it goes against it, which is why i said “as far as is practicable”. Personally I think we should have fully locked down for longer (as i said above, I haven’t been to a shop since March) but what’s being done is a balancing act between public health and the economy.

You can disagree with examples like the boxing or football, but if anything it’s THOSE that don’t make sense, not the concept of social distancing, which makes pretty perfect sense.

Professional boxing isn’t exactly a sport that attracts low risk seeking individuals anyway
In several studies, 15-40 percent of ex-boxers have been found to have symptoms of chronic brain injury. Most of these boxers have mild symptoms. Recent studies have shown that most professional boxers (even those without symptoms) have some degree of brain damage.

So what Professor Whitty is being reported as saying tonight (bbc news - children more at risk of long term effects of lost education than covid)... so what if it starts circulating amongst families and children end up losing parents? As a parent that has to be my worst possible thought - that children could be left without the security and care of their parents. Even if only temporarily whilst parents receive care in hospital. This scares me.

Hats off to you there fella you must be climbing the walls by now. A few family members contracted it in april and it wasnt pretty. The approach from the government was always to slow and reactionary.

the one that done my head in a bit was the post fight interview The other week when they’d Boxing and clinching for 12 rounds Then For the interview they’re SD. Just felt forced , I’m not saying it means it’s all a farce but that just felt a bit ridiculous.

Staying away from the interviewer, surely?
