As I understand it Irish pubs selling food were open for a few weeks with a booking and minimum order.
Spot on. I know two relatively young women, one a yoga instructor, the other a triathlete who had it in March and still having can’t get out of bed level symptoms.11.7M "recovered from it". But it isn't as simple as that, it's not a case of if you get it you either die or return to normal health. Of that 11.7M there will be hundreds of thousands of people who are permanently damaged by the desease. A friend of my son had it, he is a cyclist and has appently lost 25% of his lung efficiency, ruined his training.
This will be the problem now. The most vulnerable have probably been carried away already. Whilst we have youngsters putting caution to the wind, having fun, they could be infecting other people who have their lives changed by the virus.
We must try to approach some kind of normality but at the same time carry out precaution in the form of distancing and wearing a mask so that you don't share your respiratory droplets with all and sundry.
Is it leadership or playing to the crowd?
I'll take your word for it. I only have one mate living there so I go off what he says and that is that the current regime didn't truly win the election and are maybe attempting something without theory to prolong their rule. You know better than me, just asking a question.Believe me, keeping pubs closed in Ireland is not playing to the crowd
Stopping people congregating indoors with zero chance of maintaining social distancing and one that encourages a raucous atmosphere is never in a million years playing to the gallery, it's just plain commonsense. Is
Is it leadership or playing to the crowd? Going back and forth with changing rules doesnt come across to me as someone in command. Though I take your personal view on the covid into consideration of course.
So you make some rules then? What would you advise?Stopping people congregating indoors with zero chance of maintaining social distancing and one that encourages a raucous atmosphere is never in a million years playing to the gallery, it's just plain commonsense.
You've been in these types of food pubs. Always full of kids running around.Stopping people congregating indoors with zero chance of maintaining social distancing and one that encourages a raucous atmosphere is never in a million years playing to the gallery, it's just plain commonsense.
Yes but apart from that!Because vulnerable people are still by and large locked up and away from the rest of society and there's less activity amongst the rest of the population....and that leads to less chance for people to be dying of accidental deaths.
Take the brakes off altogether, encourage the vulnerable out, go for a full return to academic and economic activity and the fatality rate would go through the roof.

Just shut them down. That's a sure fire way of stopping the transmission. You've been in these types of food pubs. Always full of kids running around.

People want ale and food? Get them and drink / eat them. Take them to a park. Stay in your own home and sit in your garden. Eat and drink indoors.
I'm not seeing the logic in opening up these places to (GUARANTEED) produce a spike that'll be almost unstoppable going into the autumn / winter.
WTF is it about some people? They "HAVE TO" have a pub or restaruant to got to feel they're alive?
Selfish weapons. Shame on them.
Quite simply my only response is that people want to enjoy life. It's one go at it and the rest is in the lap of your god.Just shut them down. That's a sure fire way of stopping the transmission.

The young, thin and healthy people might be less likely to die from COVID but it doesn't mean that they can't catch it and pass it on to the old, fat and sick so I'm not sure what your point is.But significantly weight , health issues and most importantly age are the big ones.
So the old , the fat and the sick are most at risk.
Which is pretty much expected really for a pandemic.
You are arguing against evolution here. The fat, sick and old always die first. The young, thin and healthy people might be less likely to die from COVID but it doesn't mean that they can't catch it and pass it on to the old, fat and sick so I'm not sure what your point is.
