Right, but what are you saying? So far, for certain, we have:
  • The virus affects old people more: We all know that.
  • Modern medicine allows people to live longer. Agreed
  • The average age of people who have died from Covid is 84. Haven't verified that, but I'll take your word for it.
Now what? What were you saying with this collection of facts? Where do the PC brigade and euthanasia come into it?
I was asked after my initial comment, "I suppose you would like to see mandatory euthanasia for over 75s" so I responded with no not mandatory but euthanasia should not be illegal for those who are terminal.. as for political correctness when someone says something unpopular but true about elderly people (in this case) and others then immediately chiming in with shouts of "ageist" "you don't think old lives matter" or "you are happy to see elderly die" those people are part of the PC brigade immediately jumping to the far extreme nothing I said in any way was meant in the way it's been taken up and criticised. Initially my comment was in defense of someone who had posted an article about Covid19 and the elderly someone replied to that post with the "you don't think old lives matter" shout. When someone says it's mainly old people with underlying conditions that are dying from this, it should not instantly be taken as that person hates old people and has no issues with old people dying.

Everyone knows this. The post of mine you originally responded to had nothing to do with the rate of elderly people being infected: the bulk of my response was to do with how social responses and general social concern vary in different countries. I dedicated one sentence to point out that he was slightly dismissive of how many people died in care homes in Sweden, as he had suggested that Sweden's approach might be considered successful otherwise. I doubt @Deckard2049 felt particularly accused of anything.

You picked this single sentence out, went on a mad rant about modern medicine and life expectancy (still not sure what you're angling at with this), the average age of people dying from Covid in Ireland (no idea what that has to do with anything either) and the PC Brigade (I was utterly baffled). You have been ranting on like a lunatic ever since

Omg he's quoting Shapiro now

I'll make no apologies for liking Ben Shapiro, I don't agree with him on a lot of what he says but I like watching his debates.

I think people saying "its only the old and fat who are dying" is quite possibly the most dangerous statement that can be made.

Its not true and its very damaging.

And it completely ignores that this isn’t a binary disease where you are either fine or dead.

I agree, but just to be clear you are not saying that I said anything like that.. right? Again just to be clear I never said "only" and never mentioned "fat".

Hospital figures - 8 is the announced total for the day, 2 up on yesterday and 2 down on last Sunday. 5 of these were in English hospitals, one up on yesterday but 4 down on last week will all coming in the past 10 days

Are there any masks available that protect the wearer from disease? (like medical grade masks ect), if there are they should be made available to the elderly/vulnerable. Could be a much better solution and would stop a lot of bickering cos I Gotta be honest with you, if i was you I wouldn't rely on me to not act irresponsibly and if I was elderly /vulnerable I would be much more comfortable having my life in my own hands rather than relying on others.
