Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Our hospital system is back to it's peak from a couple months ago with 76 COVID patients currently admitted. As a system we are far from overwhelmed (the main hospital has around 900 beds if you include the cancer center - although medical staffing to patient ratio would be scary at full occupancy)
@LinekersLegs

Neither police nor retail staff can enforce this completely.

It's the majority sense of moral duty that will badger most of those reluctant into compliance, sooner or later.

You can still give someone a dirty look wearing a mask, its all in the eyes.

Provided you're not wearing glasses and they are all fogged up.

It's either that or Soviet style PA-Tannoys all over town constantly reminding people to do the right thing.

Fair few big supermarkets refusing to enforce the mask policy, saying it is the police’s responsibility to enforce it.

Some police forces are also refusing to enforce it stating they are ‘too busy’

Shambles through and through.

I dont understand why folk wont wear one. Just a scarf will do if someone cant find one to buy.

The missus went to the little Tesco by ours, she had a mask, she said it was 50/50 masks in the shop and half the staff had their masks round their neck.

Then we took the Grandson to the park, not a single mask in sight.

Great plan this yano, utterly foolproof.

Because there are a lot of selfish people about.

I have to wear a ton of PPE for my job. Nobody complains despite how unwieldy some of it can be, because it’s there to protect yourself. But as soon as some people are asked to wear something to protect other people, they kick off.

It’s pure selfishness:(

In the shops, the Government could just tell them to lob £100.00 onto anyones bill if they are not wearing a mask or covering, unless they are allowed not to have one.

I'm not really sure what the plan is tbh. Infections were low already, so if this plan was less about lowering an already fairly low rate of infections, and more a case of getting people back into doing stuff...

Its clear as day to me mate. Its about keeping them low now the worst *prays* has passed, in the lead up to winter. We know there will be localised outbreaks, but avoiding the sort of stuff Merica is going through is the deal, until it goes away or some boffin finds out that fruit gums can sort it.
