Deffo the result of some wierd sexual liason involving a couple of depraved Chinese virologists, three civet cats, the odd horny fruit bat and an extemely liberal pangolin.

I think you'll find that pretty much every major city has an institute of virology or something similar, so that really isn't relevant. There is actually one in Liverpool too.

Mutating viruses do tend to happen in one place, it's really not likely that the same virus develops the same mutation in 10 different places at the exact same time.

Not saying that the Chinese aren't capable of doing it, but the reasons you have posted don't really add up to "suspicious" as we would expect both of those to happen

Could be very easily any country that has biological capabilities. For instance America would have motive to undermine China with the ongoing trade war. America even tested on its own soldiers when they had an active program, however, this took decades to come to light.
