Someone is reportedly trying to abscond from Arrowe Park Hospital before completing their 2 week isolation.

I hope they shoot em.

I posted In this thread last week that I’d been told that . I’d actually been told they left , at that stage there was no legislation to stop them as far as I’m aware . interesting it took Nearly a week for the story to make the press and the articles still seem incredibly vague .

Live map showing the areas of highest infection if anyone is curious.

Apparently it will have an adverse effect on the world economy. Remainer's will blame it on Brexit.
What happens in China has been increasingly affecting world market movements in recent times. Largely, it's skirmishes with USA over trade but this is a different ball game. This could lead to big recession all over the gaff.

From what I gather, someone tried to leave, but didn't actually do so.

yeah like I say that’s the reporting although it does seem A little vague . I was told last week somebody had actually left , I’m assuming it’s the same incident and I’d imagine the story is probably that they haven’t left. However the accounts ive written seem pretty consistent with this line

“A new law was hurriedly brought into force after a patient staying at Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral reportedly tried to leave before completing the 14-day stay after his return from China
But a source involved with the Arrowe Park incident said: 'We found we didn't have the necessary enforcement powers to make sure they didn't leave”

it doesn’t seem to say anywhere that they “were stopped from leaving “, as I say that’s probably somewhere Else in other accounts and I’m not seeing it but otherwise it does look intentionally vague. I do find it interesting that it’s took nearly a week to make it out as a story . There is also I suppose all kinds of interpretations of what ‘leave ‘ means and where the line with attempting comes into it .

It seems ridiculous that anyone would be selfish enough to want to leave having agreed to stay in isolation but I suppose incredibly predictable.

Yes. Experts place the mortality rate at its highest between 1% and 2% although there will be many who've contracted the disease and not been diagnosed.

In reality, it's probably less than 1%, so unless it mutates in the next couple of weeks it will not be the mass killer people predict. Obviously, lots of people will die...

... that's just based on the number of people who contract it. The real issue is the strain it will have on health care, the economy and everything else.

I definitely think it will be low mortality rate. Asymptomatic infected patients have been identified so there are a lot more that are infected than reported -- not even including the mildly ill that didn't seek treatment.

I would've thought there would be enough power under the Health and Social Care act 2008 as it introduced changes to the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984, namely in respect to infection and isolation controls.

I've not been in work today, but every teleconference I had last week about it (almost daily), there was new information. Wouldn't surprise me if someone had tried to walk out. There's nowt as queer as folk.

its mad isn't it, i'd be utterly petrified of passing it on to a toddler or some poor old timer

Is there anything known about those who die--is it affecting the youngest and oldest worst, like flu?
