Apart from a slightly higher number of old and sick people dying than usual, I fail to understand why the world is losing its marbles over this.
Entirely depends if it's your old sick family and friends. If some have not got any and have narcissistic traits it may not matter much to them.

Ok mate. Are we putting cards on the table? I work in law enforcement and there is absolutely no reason to panic but as I've stated in my post history, there are concerns here. Regarding civil liberties and health. So get off your high horse, stop flinging mud it isn't helpful. Instead try joining the discussion in a helpful manner. And by the way thanks for the work your wife is doing.

I agree.

Panic is what has led to the ridiculous hoarding by clowns who think that we will run out of food etc

However, everyone needs to CALMLY take sensible, risk based decisions regarding their behaviour.

BTW standing for an hour in a queue close to lots of others in similar stressed and panic mode, is not exactly clever in terms of avoiding exposure to risk!

Old and sick people die of flu and infections all the time yet nothing as ludicrous as this goes on in attempts to save them. I really don't get this mayhem at all.

It's ridiculous what people are doing in the US. They're causing a shortage. I was out tonight and some guy was bragging about the toilet paper he had and how he's gonna sell it because he stocked.

I'm a wipe my ass with 5's before I give that ef a bleepin dime.

Plenty of dock leaves around soon

This is theoretically more contagious, which can cause more patients at once. Which causes shortages and worse health care which turns deaths that would be normally be prevented.

This is why they are taking measures to reduce interaction between people, because it will spread. But if we can slow it, it becomes much more manageable.

Heartless. Damn. You don't know any elderly people? The world will continue, but I don't understand the complete disregard.

I'm not saying to freak out, but I also don't understand the repulsion of if stuff shuts down to save some lives. And I was always called a capitalist, I'm a fraud.
Sorry, but the way this virus is being presented like it’s highly lethal to everyone is a crock. It’s deadly to a very specific group of people who are also at risk every cold and flu season, yet there’s absolutely nothing done differently at those times.

We are now setting a precedent that with every outbreak we should be enacting the same measures. Anything else is a betrayal of people.

The only certainty in life is death. Yeah it's tragic when a loved one dies, especially when you're by their side when they go, but I've suffered enough deaths in the family over the past few years that I've largely become desensitised to it.

I get that sentiment. Completely. However, this virus is more contagious than the flu with no vaccine and we failed to prepare. That's the difference. I get your point, I think we need to be pragmatic about it.

Because we are ill prepared I think we need to handle it differently this time. I don't think this will become the norm. Once people survive this the reaction won't be the same in my opinion.

That's because flu vaccination has been round since the 1950s... We also in the UK have aged population in some social economic classes, and with age comes come the increasing chance of underlying health issues.

Also with medical advances there are many younger people who go about their business work rest and play with some very serious health conditions, however, this virus is a serious threat to them all currently.

And as for people panicking that's really job of Governments to install confidence.
