I understand that and appreciate it. I haven't had to do it, but I think I'm heading towards it given the state.
For what it's worth I manage a small business (not mine), I've been told by the owner if I don't feel safe not even if I have symptoms, I don't have to come in to work and I'll get paid until it passes. I work retail, so I can't really do any work work from home.
A lot of people are like just take the free money, and I see your point. That has to be awful to be stuck with absolutely nothing to do. However, I don't feel right just collecting a check and doing nothing until we are absolutely closed.
More to your point though, I'm not so concerned about whether I'll get through it. Odds are I will. I'm 30, no pre-existing condition. However, my concern isn't about myself. Wouldn't you feel awful passing it along to someone elderly? Again, I work retail so I deal with probably a thousand people plus indirectly daily. My concern is about giving it to someone who may give it to someone. Compounding things.
I can't imagine how bad it sucks, but I just don't want to compound things. Staying at home for the time being to keep things manageable seems like a relatively easy sacrifice in the grandscheme of things.
I am in a pretty good position though. I live in the suburbs, with 2 friends as roommates, and another 2 friends live next door. We have big yards and everything, so it's not like I'm stuck in a small one bedroom apartment in the city.
I get it, I just don't want to pass it on and contribute to problems those at risk face.
This virus has outed the far right eugenicists up and down the country who have jumped a specific medical term to peddle sinister narrative and this thread is no exception.People have just accepted as a standard practise medical term.
Literally just labelled the general population as beasts in the field to operate as viral cannon fodder until it is burnt out and some of us animals have accidentally lived on.
Law enforcement?Ok mate. Are we putting cards on the table? I work in law enforcement and there is absolutely no reason to panic but as I've stated in my post history, there are concerns here. Regarding civil liberties and health. So get off your high horse, stop flinging mud it isn't helpful. Instead try joining the discussion in a helpful manner. And by the way thanks for the work your wife is doing.
As I've said a few times, I'm a stoic so I don't much care for things that I cannot control. I know that I've visited high-risk areas so from that point I have taken personal responsibility to limit the detrimental impact I could have on others. My conscience is clear.
I'm not a believer in the "people are stupid" meme. In fact, I think that generally folks are very intelligent and will self isolate freely. What does concern me however is governments who label their citizens as part of a "herd" That troubles me deeply. Are we to be branded with numbers next?
This is an emergency and it has to be addressed via bipartisan, transparent talks. Pandering into the arms of conspiracy theorists who claim we are merely sheeple will give fuel to the fire.
We are a democracy backed with fortitude and conviction, it's time we acted like one.
I've read a few of your posts over the past 24 hours or so, and they've contained more than a twinge of utter panic, hence why I've written what I have.
Because it’s easy to extrapolate the death rates of vulnerable groups to imply that everyone will die, especially if you view it as a Hollywood style killer virus.Apart from a slightly higher number of old and sick people dying than usual, I fail to understand why the world is losing its marbles over this.
And that's totally respectable. I've said I'm going to work until I feel like I have symptoms. It's in my local community, and if I ever feel like I have the symptoms I'm going to do what you did.
So maybe that's where our situation differ. I'm not pretending to know what it's like wherever you maybe, but it's now circulating in my city with people who haven't left in months.

I expect Hancock will reel back from the concept of hurd nonsense for what it is, survival of the fittest, and may actually accept the basic premise of his role as a minister and his Government, to protect the most vulnerable in society.

Because highly esteemed medical professionals like Kay Burley and Piers Morgan are having complete meltdowns.
