The thing that doesnt seem to have been mentioned in the Metre Wars is the issue of time span.

Folk generally dont stay in a pub for a few minutes; even with a 2 metre distance, sitting at a table with folk for a hour or so is way more significant than passing someone within 1 metre in a supermarket.

Can I or can I not wee in the swimming pool?
Only in Spain and only if you've had a full English. If you've had any other food or anything short of a full English (no bacon for example) then it is not permissable.

One exception to the rule is if you've had cocopops, then you may make a one time only wee into the pool, but you must do it only if the water is above waist height and on completion of the wee, you must immediately leave the pool and return home.

At 1m distance you are 10 x more likely to catch an infection than at 2m distance.

That is the only consideration that should be made here. That is the medical view. All the rest arguing for 1m is purely commercial. The latter distance will definitley lead to more infections and more deaths.
Espcially with the woman i pick up on sheil road

So you’re saying the German disease centre are wrong and you know better because ?

Strange as you’ve held Germany up as a bastion of Covid control until now.
Do you mean the Robert Koch Institute?

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) said on Saturday the R number jumped to 1.79 on Saturday and 2.88 on Sunday, far higher than what is needed to contain the outbreak over a longer period of time.
The institute attributed the rise to a number of local outbreaks that have been traced back to places with large numbers of people, such as meatpacking plants and logistics centres, as well as refugee shelters. Outbreaks have also been linked to church services and family parties.
“Since case numbers in Germany are generally low, these outbreaks have a relatively strong influence on the value of the reproduction number,” said the institute. “Further developments need to be monitored closely during the upcoming days, especially in regard to whether case numbers are increasing outside of outbreak contexts.”

Yeah, very reassuring.

Stop misrepresenting them.

Funny you should mention Germany, as it would appear that the residents of a housing estate in Gottingen in Germany are non too happy at being forcibly locked down due to an outbreak and have been lobbing stuff at the Police.

With that and the riots in one of the cities over the weekend, it looks like the Germans can be quite naughty when they want to be too.

I think lockdown is getting to people. Stuttgart is normally the last place you'd expect to see riots in Germany. Or one of them at least.

The issue is the drip-drip easing of restrictions faster than the science and statistics would permit, on economic grounds.

That simply cannot engender public confidence in measures taken being compliant with public health interests.

As for the proposed and imminent 1m social distancing, It isn't safer because the government says it is, all that's happening is that people are being told to live with a proportionately higher (and in this case, far higher), level of risk.
