where have you heard that from mate ? as of talking to people yesterday at local breweries they knew nothing officially

my local pub. Been told by Thwaites that they are opening 4th July, and the Gov have told them that.

I still think it's optimistic tbh, quite a few pubs round here are planning parties on the 4th... i don't think they will be able too

Honestly ? Ok well that’s really interesting I’d be very interested to see if @peteblue brewery has told him that . There is lots and lots of talk of that date including the spoons bloke saying ages ago he’ll be opening but to my knowledge nothing official.

Pub I’m staying at in the Lakes second week in July, have their own micro brewery at the back and they’ve said they’ll be ready to go.

Maybe they’re just taking a calculated risk ?

I think that’s a strong rumour but there doesn’t seem to be any official word anywhere
The Government announced at the end of May the 'ready for restart'

"A new £50 million fund for councils to support their local high streets get safely back to business announced today by High Streets Minister Simon Clarke (24 May 2020).

To prepare for the reopening of non-essential retail when the scientific advice allows, the Reopening High Streets Safely Fund will help councils in England introduce a range of safety measures in a move to kick-start local economies, get people back to work and customers back to the shops".

It seems to be helping ease some of the local difficulty in reopening.

I think it will happen if and when job losses start to mount up and we see a significant number of companies going to the wall. The government have put themselves in a situation where any significant economic down-turn - which seems pretty inevitable - will get the general population turning against and threatening them, despite their majority. Brexit to come as well. It's going to be a tough old winter by the look of it.
...and despite all the BS atm about 'we cant go back to austerity measures in the wake of this' being banmdied about by the Tories, they will revisit it (or, rather, continue itr, because it never went away).

There will be an almighty tear up when unemplyment hits 3-4 million and the ravages of Covid19 continue alongside it.
