Then I find it strange that you are blaming the downturn in the economy, caused by the virus, on the Tories. Especially when you have already accused them of putting the economy ahead of people's lives
They put the very short term economy ahead of life, yes, and then also screwed up the future economy as a consequence of their multiple failures.

I’m hugely critical of this government at almost every turn and I think the handling of the crisis has been pretty inept but I think in general the attempts to protect the economy and those within it have overall been their one bright spot .

Its very difficult to solely blame the Government for this downturn. The economy will always take a downturn in a pandemic, it's factored into the risk assessments, quite such a severe drop means scrutiny will be attached - especially to the timing of lockdown and the initial focus in response.

The usual rule applies that the earlier you take action, the better recovery you have.

Are we well prepared for another 'short term 5-15% drop' in December?

I think he's making the point that they made good capital on a global economic downturn to kick the Labour Government while they were in power and 18 years of growth have been wiped off the economy on this Governments watch - so....
You must have read a different post to me

Doesn’t work though.

Ive worn a face mask for weeks while doing the shopping, and I’d say 80% of people aren’t. Grinds my gears when you see a pair of 60 year olds doing the weekly shop with no mask.
Don't let it get to you mate , there is feck all you can do about idiots , if a 2nd wave occurs wearing masks may well become compulsory but even then some people wont comply.
Edit. As @davek has just highlighted a threat to the wallet for non compliance may be the solution !

Wow, just got sent a video of my office with social distancing measures in place. It’s insane; will get no work done at all lol

My place is bonkers. Temperature test on way in. Masks mandatory. One way system that means if I want a drink of water i have to walk 400m around the building. No canteen anymore but also no food to be brought in.

Talked to the safety guy and he told me its nuts but the brass want to keep production going and to see people in the office.

You didn't need to be a scientist to understand how the R rate and exponential growth works.
I almost don't want to say it as it feels rather morbid, but I have found a lot of this awful tragedy very educational. I honestly had never heard of an R rate previous to covid 19 and was assuming it would have the same outcome as swine or bird flu, most likely based on a history of media hyperbole and being too lazy/stupid to read and interpret the facts properly. More worrying is that some world leaders with access to the most up to date info and expertise had the same attitude as me

Sorry I didn't realise there were usual rules that we always use with pandemics. Silly me

Yeh basically to go for a wee, 5 other people have to get up and take a lap of our building via 2 fire exits.

I wee OFTEN.

I think it is fair to say we have all learned a lot mate.

On a wider point, I think we need to pull back from our interaction with animals in general to mitigate these types of pandemics becoming more common place this century. We need to farm them less and begin restoring ecosystems.
