On a less serious note, got much work coming back mate?

Thankfully I've managed to keep around 80% of my long-term clients, and picked up one or two new bits and bobs here and there, so it's been nowhere near as bad as I feared. Talking to other freelancers though, many have been nowhere near as fortunate. The stockmarket bizarrely seems to have regained pretty much everything that was lost in March as well, so financially things are okay, which I feel glad about, obviously, but also somewhat guilty for admitting.

How are things your end?

Good.

No change really mate, except the Mrs working from home. Daughter's always been shielded to a certain degree because of her severe allergies, she's obviously missing netball, aikido, friends and her Ranger activities, but being brave about it, thankfully :)

"Assessing the credibility of the various estimates, we conclude that face masks reduce the daily growth rate of reported infections by around 40%."

...and yet we have to wait until the 15th of June to see ANY form of face mask wearing, and then only on public transport.

You really do have to believe that this government of ours in the UK are intent on butchering millions.
I think we all have to use our common sense and gut instinct on this , I have been using a mask if in an enclosed space .
The government is a bunch of incompetent fools making it up as they go along .
The only advice I would take seriously is Chris Whitty's .

It does seem that way. I just got back from the Dentist, everyone in the building are wearing face masks, they wouldn't let you in without one. I have no doubt they are extremely clued up given their risk. Hand sanitizer between every room, designated seats in the waiting room... was extremely professional.

You can see why many opt not to wear masks, I did in work yesterday and it was a struggle to breathe in, particular as I had to do a lot of stair climbing due to the new measures we’ve put in place.

On that, very impressed with how the managers have set up things for next week, no half arsing on anything and have set limits on how many customers will be allowed in to ensure staff aren’t overwhelmed

But that's of no use. Face mask wearing is only effective if all people don them. Leaving it to gut instinct means that many wont wear them.

Pain from my teeth would need to be enormous for me to go anywhere near a dentist.

So far today, I’ve read one expert who says the numbers would have been halved if we had locked down a week earlier, another one who said the deaths number would have been halved again in the same timeframe, I.e. the first expert was using too high a number. A third expert believes that our stated numbers are actually twice as high as the reality for COVID deaths. So even now, after all this time, our medical experts are proving themselves about as reliable and consistent as our economic experts were back in 2016.....and this was the one time I thought I’d be able to believe them......
Expert for that guy is a changeable feast it seems depending upon who will let him lie about his accreditations.

But he actually said 'The death toll may be less than half what has been recorded because many victims of the pandemic would have died soon anyway'

Which is a very Harold Shipman way of saying 'these people were already ill'

We lost about a 1/7th of our shares value but that has rebounded to where we have recovered about half of that.

We are expecting a second downturn though, so are shifting things around.

Then I find it strange that you are blaming the downturn in the economy, caused by the virus, on the Tories. Especially when you have already accused them of putting the economy ahead of people's lives
I think he's making the point that they made good capital on a global economic downturn to kick the Labour Government while they were in power and 18 years of growth have been wiped off the economy on this Governments watch - so....
