328 deaths in that country in the whole crisis - we had more than that in the last two days - and here you are (again) besmirching their record while defending our butcher government that's run up 66,000 deaths.

What is it with you and that place? Were you mugged in Prague once? It's insane that you feel the need to denigrate their government when it's been so successful when you live in a country that's considered to be the sick man of Europe.

Err, no, I was just married there

Firstly, I'm not commenting on their record on Covid, and I don't believe the protests against Babis are related to that either. They're related to him being as bent as a nine bob note. I can just imagine your uproar if Johnson not only owned News Corp, but had a conglomerate that was pocketing huge subsidies from the EU. You complain enough that the media are biased towards the Tories as it is, without the prime minister actually owning the main media company in the country. That is why people in Czech don't like Babis, but I'm sure you knew that.

Secondly, the situation is not exactly the same, is it? As shown this week, most of the cases here were from people coming from Italy, Spain and France to the UK. None of those countries provide a large number of in-bound tourists or other visitors to Czech, especially in February. Instead, most of the Czech infections were from Czech nationals returning from skiing trips to Italy and Austria, of which the numbers were inevitably lower.

Thirdly, while they have had low infections, they've also been heavily criticised internally for the lack of financial support offered, for prostrating themselves to China for often dodgy equipment, and for a generally lo-tech response (many doctors appointments were still conducted face-to-face, for instance, as it was either that or a telephone call).

In February Johnson made clear his intentions.

Johnson didn't lockdown earlier because of economics in the pursuit of the inhumane herd immunity experiment. Johnson's 'let it spread, take it on the chin',
Cummings "The report claimed that at one private event at the end of February, Cummings outlined then government’s strategy at the time in a way that was summarised by some present as “herd immunity, protect the economy, and if that means some pensioners die, too bad.”
And Vallance was the 'expert' front for the inhumane herd immunity experiment.

60 000 unnecessary deaths and rising is testimony to the inhumane failure of Johnson and his crew who've stood guard while the country has suffered and still suffering. As are the 130 000 preventable deaths due to austerity a testimony to an uncaring government.
He is utterly incapable of leading a country and he is surrounded by liars, headcases, sycophants and autocrats.

The sooner the public recognise him for that the better because the longer it takes them, the greater the harm this lot can do.

Bottom line: they got the job done. This goverment didn't. They failed horrendously, as the reports yesterday on spurning the opportunity to lockdown a week earlier to cut the death toll by more than half what it is.

Natural justice would see the perpetrators of that pay the price. It would be the ultimate price if I had my way.

So did we the stats rise after the packed out beaches on the bank holiday?
There is normally a 5 week cycle from infection to death, I think we're in about week 3 or 4.

The usual signs are a slow increase in the R rate (which currently is a bit of a worrying trend) and known cases of infection (currently the data isn't particularly good to give a complete picture but looks generally positive).

I expect we will know more within a few more weeks.

But surely we have admissions stats for the hospital by now.

How very right wing of you.

TBF this is not that much of a distinction - yes, he doesn't own News Corp or a conglomerate that was pocketing huge subsidies from the EU but he is close mates with the people who do.
