Err, no, I was just married there
Firstly, I'm not commenting on their record on Covid, and I don't believe the protests against Babis are related to that either. They're related to him being as bent as a nine bob note. I can just imagine your uproar if Johnson not only owned News Corp, but had a conglomerate that was pocketing huge subsidies from the EU. You complain enough that the media are biased towards the Tories as it is, without the prime minister actually owning the main media company in the country. That is why people in Czech don't like Babis, but I'm sure you knew that.
Secondly, the situation is not exactly the same, is it? As shown this week, most of the cases here were from people coming from Italy, Spain and France to the UK. None of those countries provide a large number of in-bound tourists or other visitors to Czech, especially in February. Instead, most of the Czech infections were from Czech nationals returning from skiing trips to Italy and Austria, of which the numbers were inevitably lower.
Thirdly, while they have had low infections, they've also been heavily criticised internally for the lack of financial support offered, for prostrating themselves to China for often dodgy equipment, and for a generally lo-tech response (many doctors appointments were still conducted face-to-face, for instance, as it was either that or a telephone call).
