Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

It's a strange one this. The writer Steven Riley is actually a member of the SPI-M, the government advisory group that this report was intended for, along with 3 other scientists from Imperial, including Professor Ferguson. But there was no mention of this report in either of the SAGE meetings minutes that were held on 10th and 13th March. Ferguson was present at both meetings. That doesn't make sense to me.

If you care to look, I called him out a long time before he resigned, and I did so based on his previous ‘predictions’, which also were a load of rubbish.....I don’t give a damn about him and his woman, I do care about information being even remotely correct....
Shall I just assume your criticism is a rehash of something you read in The Telegraph?

On the subject of the delay in imposing lockdown, I posted a story from Private Eye last week which stated that Johnson delayed it by a week cos he had a baby shower lined up at chequers. He needs to be prosecuted for this alone.

In February Johnson made clear his intentions.

Johnson didn't lockdown earlier because of economics in the pursuit of the inhumane herd immunity experiment. Johnson's 'let it spread, take it on the chin',
Cummings "The report claimed that at one private event at the end of February, Cummings outlined then government’s strategy at the time in a way that was summarised by some present as “herd immunity, protect the economy, and if that means some pensioners die, too bad.”
And Vallance was the 'expert' front for the inhumane herd immunity experiment.

60 000 unnecessary deaths and rising is testimony to the inhumane failure of Johnson and his crew who've stood guard while the country has suffered and still suffering. As are the 130 000 preventable deaths due to austerity a testimony to an uncaring government.

It's staggering to me that they haven't been dragged out of Westminster and hung from the nearest lampost.

Imagne this scenario: 66,000 people below the age of 15 had been killed by their inactions. There would be riots until they were hung.

But for some reason, because it's predominantly old people dying, it's accepted and the murderer gets to see out the rest of his murderous plan - currently killing between 200-300 people per day.

WTF type of society do we live in when that doesn't go unpunished?

We live in a society where people aren't hung from lamposts based upon the unhinged rantings of an internet loony.

You continue to rail against the government of the Czech Republic who have kept their citizens safe from Covid19, while finding excuses for the butchers here who took so far 66,000 lives, and I'm the loony?

I had a big argument with my partner on the evening of the 16 March, the day BoJo told everyone to stay at home, avoid non essential travel but didn't close down pubs/restaurants/shops.

We went for a walk and every pub we passed had loads of people in. I said we should be in full lockdown right now and this semi lockdown was going to kill people. She was of the opinion that people were fine to go for a drink and we shouldn't judge.

It was so obvious to me at the time and unfortunately I was completely right, with tens of thousands of deaths the result of BoJo acting too late.

This is why, for me, anyone acting like it is only clear in hindsight is a load of rubbish.

It was obvious, if you understood exponential growth and were willing to actually take the decision.

There was a protest against Babis for being a crook this week, to follow on from the one in December that attracted 250,000 people.

328 deaths in that country in the whole crisis - we had more than that in the last two days - and here you are (again) besmirching their record while defending our butcher government that's run up 66,000 deaths.

What is it with you and that place? Were you mugged in Prague once? It's insane that you feel the need to denigrate their government when it's been so successful and you live in a country that's considered to be the sick man of Europe.
